Well the cold weather is lingering here in the N/E so I went ahead and installed a Viper 4103XV Remote Car Starter on my 2000 Corolla. Wiring should be the same or similar on all Gen 8 corollas.
Quality is top notch on this model even though its an older model (cheap to buy too, about $70).
A lot of wires are not used in this unit as it has provisions for cars with tons of options and cars w factory alarm systems. Mine is a basic Corolla w no factory remote at all, so all in all was pretty straight forward. I have remote door locks now to boot.
Here is a break down of how she is wired:
Main harness (H1) 9 pin:
Light green/black - - 200ma factory alarm disarm output **not wired**
Green/white- -200ma factory alarm rearm output **not wired**
Yellow - + ignition out (to alarm) **not wired**
White/blue - - activation input **not wired**
Orange - -500ma ground when locked/anti grind output **not wired**
Brown - horn **not wired**
Red/white - trunk release **not wired**
Black - grounded
White - wired to green wired (marker lights) bottom of fuse box.
Remote start harness (H3) 5 Pin
Bk/white - neutral safety switch or can be grounded (not recommended for safety reasons).
Violet white - wired to red/blue tach wire in engine bay near top of valve cover (in the main harness that runs along valve cover).
Brown - wired to green and white on brake switch. Remove the gauge cluster and the wire can be worked on very readily otherwise, good luck getting to it!!! Cluster takes about 3 minutes to get out.
Gray - hood switch or can be left unwired but not recommended as it creates a safety hazard should someone hit the start button why you are working on the engine....
blue white - -200ma 2nd status/rear defogger output **not wired**
Heavy gauge relay 6 pin
Pink - bk/white @ ign harness
Purple - Red + @ ign harness
Orange - blue/red @ ign harness
Red - white @ ign harness
Pink/white - black and yellow @ ign harness
Red - white @ ign harness
Satellite harness
Blue - -200 ma status output **not wired**
orange - -200ma accessory output **not wired**
purple - -200ma starter output **not wired**
pink - -200ma ign output **not wired**
door lock 3 pin
light blue - blue/black (right side of fuse box).
empty not used
green - green/white @white plug (right side of fuse box).
Most of this job was me trying to find which wire was needed and where they went. Hopefully this will save some of you a lot of time. Really not a bad job to do at all.
