This is my first post here and I was hoping to draw on your collective knowledge about a truck I am currently considering. I work with a small construction crew doing remodels and other various odd jobs that require occasional lumber/drywall/tile/etc. types of loads. A friend of my brother is selling her 2000 Tacoma and I thought it would probably be a pretty good replacement for the POS Saturn I'm currently trying to work out of.

The Tacoma is 2WD/4 cyl/5 speed manual.
New brakes, smogged, dual airbags, power steering, and a camper shell.

I'm not sure of the mileage but it's probably about par for (if not lower) a 7-year-old vehicle. My brother tells me that it is in very good shape. She's asking $7000.

Is there anything I should look out for on this model? Is it worth $7000?

Looks like a nice truck andit will do alot better job than your Saturn. it will get good gas milage and you don't need a 4x4 where you live unless you activly seek off roading. It will do you good, and a goog price. Look around on line or ebay and see what they are goiing for.

Well, I decided to buy it at $6700. It has 75k mi on it and barring a few cosmetic dents and scratches, it's in very good shape. I think it will work out just fine. :)

The only thing I'm worried about is people breaking into the camper shell to steal my tools. I was thinking of putting up some safety scrrens over the windows, the kind that you find on screen doors that let you see out but keep others from seeing in.
