I looked at doing this and you have to get the 6MT, the shifter, and the shifter cables. I current have the 6MT on my 2017 Corolla iM and TBH, I wouldn't hassle with it. Yes, it has one more gear but the end result is that 6th gear is a little taller. I was looking at installing the 6MT on my 2009 Corolla S Turbo 5MT but after I bought my 2017 Corolla iM 6MT and I got used to driving both of them there isn't a big enough difference to hassle with the cost and change.

It should just bolt right in as long as it's the 2ZR-FE and not the 2ZR-FAE. That will also bolt right in but you would need the ECU that goes with the 2ZR-FAE and some wiring might be different. The 2ZR-FE should be a straight bolt in swap as it's the same exact engine.

I'm sure that the VIN # would tell you for certain. You could call a dealer and ask the parts department. The only Corolla sedan than had the 2ZR-FAE was the LE ECO model. All other sedans had the 2ZR-FE so odds are that it's only a 2ZR-FE. If the engine is from a 2016-18 Corolla/Scion iM then they all came with the 2ZR-FAE. I took the picture from my 2017 Corolla iM 6MT with the 2ZR-FAE. My 2009 Corolla S 5MT has the standard 2ZR-FE.
