Hello,

I am a new Highlander owner, I got a 2016 Limited AWD and have been super happy with it so far. I initially installed the CarABC wireless carplay module, but it was buggy and wasn't very reliable.

I am now looking at android headunits, and have found the most info on the Dasaita and Viabecs units:

AND

Does anyone have experience with either or both of these? I see the Dasaita uses a Snapdragon 665 and has 8gb of RAM, while the Viabecs has the "UIS7862" processor and 6gb of RAM. I found that one website that says the UIS7862 is about 7% faster than the Snapdragon, but I am not familiar with that chipset manufacturer. Obviously the Dasaita has more RAM. Can anyone comment on their experiences with either of these?

Thanks!

I can't offer any info on either unit besides pointing out it's difficult to trust the cheap chinesium stuff. There are far too many reddit posts, etc, pointing out bugs or unit failure with both of those options for me to consider them. They're flashy and inexpensive, but they don't last and

I'm not an HL owner (yet), as I'm still doing research before I look at a 2019 Platinum a couple hours away, which is why I'm online researching OEM head unit replacement options and came across your post.

Obviously the 3rd gen unit lacks both google and apple support, but Boss, Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine, etc, all offer good value and ability to hook up and use most/all of the vehicle features. I'd rather use, and recommend using, a knowledgeable source like Crutchfield to figure out better options and kit pieces than deal with the headaches inherent in chinesium products. There's a good reason you don't see either of those stereo makers on Crutchfield's site.

EDIT: I'm very curious about the CarSyncTech intermediate module that retains the OEM stereo but wires in apple and google wired/wireless capability. Seems like a much easier way to go for full functionality of car-specific menus, gps, and mic retention, and their website is well organized, the reviews certainly sound better than chinesium junk, and the manual doesn't read like they were translated or language-butchered.

The manual:

Looks like others here like this unit a lot too:

You will love it. One of the big problems for me with CST option is that the Toyota navigation is absolute garbage! It's the worst navigation I have ever used! The Android head units let you use whatever navigation app you want. Waze for me blows away any other navigation I have ever used! That plus the ability to run any app your phone can run is a game changer and well worth the risk of the unit dying to me. I can run YouTube, Rumble, watch TV.........anything! I have the T'eyes CC3 2K and it is just awesome. All steering wheel controls work and everything. I only lost the turn by turn and speed limit in the little screen in the speedo cluster but don't care because Waze has that too on the main screen. You're also not going to get a 10.3" screen in 2K from any of the big name brands. Just my. 02.
