I've always used Butyl mat to dampen my vehicles, and only used the spray stuff in hard to reach places. But I was wondering what the damping factor of a spray on liquid would be compared to a good mat product? I like the Liquid because it's easy to apply, but was always curious of how well it actually dampened. Like, would $100 worth of liquid work as well as $100 worth of mat? Anybody got any comparison info?

Deadener: Liquid or Mat?
I like Mat for the steel panels, but the Liquid defintiely has it's place in car audio. I like to use it on the back of door panels, and other removeable panels, such as the rear deck and other things.
But if you had to pick between one or the other, mat for sure. Raammat or Secondskinaudio is what I rec. SecondSkin did better in the oven tests, but it does cost more.

Second Skin Sludge is on sale for $39/gallon right now. Thats about $10 off the normal price. I'm going to order 2 gallons this week and see how it works. So far past users love the stuff but hate working with it.
From what I've read:
1) never spray, just paint it on
2) SS Sludge is more like a paste
3) Dynamat original falls off regardless of what temperture its in
I personally use Raamat in my truck (see sig), but Dynamat extreme, FatMat and Secondskin mats have worked well for me also. eD V1 SE sucks, and is rumored to be rebadged Peel and Seal.
