Hey guys and gals..
Im not sure which one looks better. I keep going back and forth... Im going to get either a 4x4 double cab short or long bed pretty soon. The long bed is nice to have in case you need the extra room, but the short bed is a little more manoverable... So its pretty much down to looks lol. Let me know what you think please!

Not to be a jerk BUT, there's no reason for this poll. Only YOU can know the answer. For example, I don't haul all that much except trash/recycling to dump once a week, yard supplies, and the occasional appliance. I have no use for a LB.

well imo, short bed if your goin to off road alot and ride stock or 3" lift.....long bed if your goin to lift it 6"....just looks better to me that way............ my 2 cents

Well, it is more personal preference. Now if you are talking 4x4, then there is a difference. The Sport LB DC 4x4 only comes in Automatic and the Sport LB DC 4x2 that only comes in manual.

Personally, if you are going to be doing offroading, the SB would be better. I like the look of the LB over the short. My only beef is that I want it in manual, not automatic - but the LB 4x4 Double cab only comes in automatic.

I looked at a couple of DC short beds and knew that if I got a DC, it would have to be long. I think it looks better, too. I ended up getting and access cab and not having that problem anymore.

I agree that it comes down to you. If you really can't make up your mind, just see what you can get the best deal on.

The package limitations are what made my choice, no long bed DC with the off-road package. The long bed may be nice, but at least for me I think/hope that the instances where I need the extra bed space will be rare. Most of what my old truck got used for was hauling trash to the dump, which is a non issue now since I moved out of my parents house in January, and to help friends move. As for the latter, the way I see it, with a smaller bed it means less work I have to do to get my buddies shit out of my truck and into their place! haha

D/C Long Bed FTW. I was really thinking about getting the short bed, but, It dawned on me that its gonna be that one time that i NEED that extra foot and I would kick my self for not getting it. Its nice to know its there. My buddy has a short bed and tried to move his bed in it. Well that didnt work out to well. Here a pic of mine. Sweet isnt it!!!

If your question is purely based on looks, they both look better after a lift and larger tires! The dinky little 245/75/16's are too small for the truck, and make it look out of balance regardless of bed length.

I got the short bed and test drove several long beds. I was coming from a full size and just wanted to get away from that much truck. plus if i need it i have a trailer that i could park the Toyota on so im not going to run out of room. and the bed comment i work for a mattress store and deliver mattresses out of my truck at least twice a week. king or cal king is no problem it just hangs over everywhere. ill take some pictures this week.

u live in san jo right? if u ever park downtown with a LB, its going to be a PITA in those small garages. i mean, not as bad as sf downtown, but it'll still a bit challenging.

That's funny you guys think the long bed looks goofy on a DC. My wife and I both think it's just the opposite. It looked okay on the pre-05 models, but with the longer cabs beginning in 05, it just looks like the bed is now too short on those shorties.

We actually went to buy the short bed, but they only had one in a color we didn't want and that made the decision for us. Never thought we'd need the long bed, but after moving a few times and making a few purchases, we couldn't have lived without the LB! It's amazing how much stuff can fit in the LB...including a full-sized mattress and boxsprings with the tailgate UP!

So, you say now that the SB would work (just as I thought in the beginning), but don't forget about unforseen circumstances.

At first I wanted either an access cab tacoma or a DC short bed because I thought the DC LB would be too big. Well, I ended up getting the DC LB and I couldn't be happier. It may be as long as a suburban but it actually maneuvers (had to look that one up) quite well and has a good turning radius IMO. BUT, if you want the off-road pkg with a locking rear diff you are out of luck with the DC LB.
