Just thought I would let you all know I had these installed a few weeks ago and love them. Gave the engine a real nice tone to help supplement my K&N filter.

You can really hear the down shifts now which was exactly what I was looking for.

Feels like it pulls harder just before redline also.

No drone like noise on the highway unless your next to a car with exhaust work then you hear it more.

I ended up taking three videos today. First one was with a cold engine this morning and you really cannot hear much difference IMO. Second is in car, normal mode 1/2/3 gear pull to 80 MPH then down shifting. Third is a warm engine and really the best one.

My intent was not to really make it loud just to hear some exhaust tone under hard acceleration and to hear the throttle bump when I down shift.

I have really enjoyed it, IMO worth the money. Hopefully K&N will make a full set up to replace all the baffelling in place for the common driver. I think that will add tad bit more tone with out going crazy and replacing the Catalytic convertor with a straight pipe which would require engine remapping which I cannot find anyone that does that for the 3.5.

I'm in the biz so I got the mufflers for $170 and the install for $80. Realistically you should expect to be around $350.

Here are the details of the mufflers.

Borla number 40351, inlet outlet is considered OFFSET/OFFSET these are 2.25” OD PRO X/S, if you were going to use exhaust clamps you would need 2" OD as some hammering was needed to get the welds right.

Not like I did with my other vehicles, I usually heard more tone from the engine compartment but nothing this time. Although I did feel improved throttle response slightly. Way too much baffling for me. I'm 42 and modify almost every vehicle I own. Including my 2012 Prius which I had added a K&N, Eibach Springs, Drilled and Slotted Rotors, Not to mention my 2009 Camry Hybrid which I added the Eibach's, K&N and Drilled rotors. I'm working on getting a Big Brake kit for the Avalon next spring.

Why is that? I have tried to find something in my warranty that says it could void it but can't find anything.

Are you talking about the filter or the mufflers?

I think any modification not authorized by Toyota may void warranty or at least give them grounds to say so if you had any emmisions or exahust issues. I am not saying it will or has just that I would not suggest modifications that might give the manufacturer a means to back out.

Okay I read it, the Act say's nothing about vehicle modifications not authorized by the manufacturer.

It does how ever state this " The federal minimum standards for full warranties are waived if the warrantor can show that the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by damage while in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance."

The bolded part makes me wonder. Now you go read it.

This thread reminds me of my brother and I arguing for the sake of argument... just for fun. If I were interested in this mod for my TAH, I would get a response from Toyota and act accordingly.

Absolutey, it makes no sense to modify a warrentied vehicle wihtout checking first. JMHO. And I said from the outset I was unsure if would void the warranty or not but I wouldn't risk it.

I've had warranty work on my tacoma done and I have cut frame, fabbed all kinds of stuff and have a lot of aftermarket products. $15k worth

Mojo is you look into the act again, they would have to prove that a aftermarket product you added caused the failure . In this case he simple added mufflers and maybe cut part of a pipe.

Of course you have, no one saw this reply coming. I looked at the source you provided and posted and bolded a portion that may apply, take that for what its worth.

I suggest at this point we let the warranty thing end. Stick to the topic of mufflers etc. Mojo, if you really want to have a debate over warranty stuff, start a new post about things that could void warranty. Maybe people can chime in about REAL WORLD experiences.

Its a forum people by design people respond to questions, get over yourself. I couldn't care less if someone wants to void their warranty and stated all along I was unsure if it would, but it's asinine to risk it, when all you have to do is call the dealer. I guess you missed the point.

Old thread revival...OP, do these allow you to keep the factory tips? Are these Borla exhausts any narrower than the stock exhaust. Sorry for the goofy questions, but since you didn't post pics, i can't figure out these answers on my own. The vids only help with the sound of the setup. Thanks in advance!
