Miles to empty gauge question

I'm going on vacation and hoped to fuel up only once before I made the larger city, as gas is a rip off in the small tourist driven towns. Does the Avalon actually have a light that comes on nearly empty, or is the miles to empty the only way to guage how much fuel you have left? I have the V6 Limited and was hoping to get 360 miles on a tank, but when I fill up it never goes above 350. I've never had a car that lists the to empty number. If it goes down to 0 miles, is the vehicle going to shut off? Thanks for the help. I've read 5 pages of posts and only found one post that related to this topic. Unfortunately, it didn't answer my questions. Thanks in advance! :hi:

Yes, there is a light that goes on when fuel gets low. I would guess you still have about 2.5-3 gallons left when it first comes on. It tends to go on and off at first with changes in terrain. The time to get a little nervous is when the light stays on steadily even when you go up and down hills.

If you are driving predominantly on Interstates and freeways, and maintaining reasonable speeds, especially with cruise-control, you should get better than 30 mpg, and easily go more than 400 miles. The mileage estimate in the Multi-Information Display is conservative and approximate only.

I have the Hybrid Limited and the low fuel light usually turns off when I have about 40 miles left on my tank. My model has the option to display how many miles until empty, average gas mileage that is set via the "dsp" button the the bottom corner of the steering wheel. Hopefully that helps, if not good luck to u :hi:
