Forget it Henry, go all natural air man!!! Take that A/C compressor out. Check with those HVAC service people as they should be licensed to carry R12, otherwise, R134a conversion would be needed.

Really?? Cool...can you tell me how much it was?

 

Since last year I've been filling those Refrigerant 134a for my van. They do not backward compatible w/ the R12 system, nor they do have R12 Refrigerant anymore. Couple weeks ago I pick up one 340g little bottle and it cost about CAD$7. I've got a set of tubes and meters that put those refrigerant to the car thru the LOW PRESSURING vent that's easy to be seen.

I have some pictures if you're interested.

 

BTW, since I live in US, I found it in Kmart, Target, and Wal-mart. So I guess you could obtain those refills from those locations.
