XSE Rear Deck Spoiler Question

Hey, for those of us that have the XSE or had a rear deck spoiler installed by Toyota, I have a question for you...

When I depress the (approx.) center of the spoiler (with trunk lid closed), it seems that the spoiler is not all that solid and it moves some... I know / suspect it's hollow in the center but I'm uncertain if it's been incorrectly installed or does it just always move / depress / crush like that.

Anybody else notice this?

Thanks

As strange as it may sound, I was called by the dealer about scheduling my 6 month / 5000 mile service (free thanks to Toyota Service). As I write this the dealer has my car and a short list of things I want them to check out...including;
- Rear wing
- One tire consistently running higher PSI than the other three
- software version of my head-unit (basic Entune 3.0 unit currently running v1021)
- Dealer installed rear mud flaps missing at least one screw missing and they can move around some

...in addition to them doing a multi-point inspection, rotating the tires and changing the oil + filter.

I'll let you all know what they find / do.

Thank you!

Just an FYI they more than likely won’t change your oil the first time. My dealership wouldn’t on my 2014 had to do it myself even with me offering to pay them to do it. Have since changed my own except for the 2 free ones

That’s good that yours will do it. Mine flat refused. I wasn’t too keen on paying the money they wanted too but was pressed for time that day. Still did it and have ever since. Hear it’s a little more annoying with all the plastic underneath on the 8th gen.

So, I just got a call from the dealer (Simi Valley Toyota) and here's the status;

OIL & FILTER CHANGE: They resisted at first...indicating two things; 1) Toyota "recommends" that the first oil change not been done until 10,000 miles 2) You (me) only get five (5) "free" service appointments. SO...I "asked them nicely" to "burn" one of those for this visit. They agreed. (This will mean that I've had two oil / filter changes in the first 4500 miles.)

REAR SPOILER: It seems that my spoiler was INCORRECTLY installed by somebody with a Toyota emblem on their shirt. The dealer is ordering me a new spoiler and will remove the existing spoiler and install the new one.

HEAD UNIT UPDATE: I have the BASIC (bottom of the line) audio unit. The software version that I had was V1021...the dealer claimed they updated it to the new version...which one I'm uncertain of and will update you all tomorrow.

MUD FLAPS: Yep...they're installed properly...
