Before I say anything, I would really like to thank Adam aka ASG14 for all his help... I would be nowhere if it wasn't for him, helping me locating just about every part. It took me a year to collect all these parts, and thanks to him, I got everything I need :D

Here are some pics of the progress:

Lots of parts everywhere:

Much thanks to you Gabe, for arranging the parts car too! :chug:

yup tony had his trans built by ipt and it had a high stall converter, but why the swap now the the 5-speed?
The transmission had its limits, but not really due to torque or power, but due to the RPM's... My old TT setup made over 500 lbft of torque and it was fine... My T51R setup made 560 WHP and all was good. It was only until I revved to 8000 RPM and the pump inside the transmission began to fail and it was losing line pressure. This caused the transmission to slip in all gears, but at low RPM only (when line pressure was below optimum), but still holds power though above 4000RPM when the pump spins fast enough to deliver some pressure.

Basically, last October/November 2010, I took Adam ASG14 for a ride, and it was literally the last time I drove the car with the built auto. I poured in some Lucas additive and tractor hydraulic oil and the fluid was so thick that it manage to have decent line pressures. Adam basically had the one last ride which my auto setup was working before it retired

Nice:) So how long did the auto trans last on boost? I know you have a million boost setups on the way:lol:
I had the built auto for a long time, since back in 2003... The car was 450 WHP for most of its life, and then had a dose of 500+ WHP for about 2 more years. I still miss the auto, but because this car was in the family since it was new back in '94, it's just damn cool to have a 5-spd now after getting used to the auto for almost two decades...lol

*cough* done *cough*

and yah...def looking for some new dyno #s and to see how that LSD holds up- if it's all good, I think it's time for a new tranny next year with lsd and shorter gears for track :D

Nonono... TALLER final drive for even better mileage. At that power level Tony can start in ANY gear and still smoke everyone. :naughty:

The same day this was announced and it made a presence at the meet. :smokin: The most imposing besides the 4-5 crown vics . How long did the actual swap take? Hours?

^You mean the PHYSICAL swap, or everything from the minute he decided to do it? If you count ALLt he time spent on it, including the physical swap itself, your prolly looking at around 300 hours.......

Holy hell! I can't imagine that taking 300hrs!
All the info is stickied on many posts on the MR2 forums. I could've gave him all of the info to do that swap a long time ago....
The only parts I see that are hard to get would be the shifter assembly and the pedals, other than that, there are a lot of parts people on there to source a full swap....

^ You have NO idea how much more there is to it then you think. The factory LSD Trans uses diff splines, and the MR2 axle's don;t work with a Camry. Thing is, this was BOLT TOGETHER, every nut and bolt in his hand before it was started. Pretty much no one realizes you need to use Gen 4 MTM rear mount, as the Gen 3 one won;t work. 300 hours would including iverything, all time spent on it. The EASIEST part of it all was actually getting all the main parts, liek the shifter, pedals, e-brake, etc. Then keep in mind, he has to do a lot of little wiring. Yes, it CAN be done in 50 hours. Will it be good? No. This had to be built as well and as good as the rest of his car that Tony has amazingly built up.

Hell, I personally have around 40 hours research right now into a bolt on BBK kit, 4 to 5x114 swap on the AE101. It takes time to get it all perfect.

Are you sure about that? I have MR2 axles on my Camry...
There is a difference between the LSD axles and the non-LSD axles, but I can tell you now that it's obvious that Tony is running a stock LSD. With 500ft/lbs, a lot of people recommend NOT to run the stock LSD. Even some aftermarket LSD's aren't recommended at that much power. Otherwise with an aftermarket LSD, he could have used the non-LSD axles. Also, with an MR2 axle carrier bearing, there shouldn't have been hardly any additional work to make this whole thing come together. But unless axle length was an issue on this engine, then ignore my info, but that is doubtful since I've seen some MR2's with this engine.
I also hope he upgraded his axle cages because he's going to destroy the CV joints at that much power guaranteed.
And if the LSD isn't a good one, he'll end up destroying it, if not, snap the axle shafts first.

This is why some people need not keep information "secret" on here because some people end up blowing a lot more money than necessary. That and it slows down progress for the modding community as far as Camry's goes. (Not an attack, I noticed A LOT of people do it to brag)

That's be sweet to see the BBK on the AE!

The other concern with LSD's in a E153 was the vehicle speed sensor. I wasn't able to find a clean answer as to whether the E153 VSS would work with aftermarket LSD like the Quaife or Kaaz. I read guys were stripping the sensor gears, etc... With the JDM MR2 tranamission, the Camry/Solara E153 VSS works and drives the speedo perfectly.
Tony, I didn't read your post until now, but to answer your question, YES, the VSS works on the Quaife LSD. That's the setup I have on my MR2.
There's a plastic ring (ring gear?) that goes on the LSD needs to be flipped over.
The issue people have been having is that the mechanical VSS does not work on an LSD setup; the Mechanical one is for non-LSD transmissions. As far as stripping them, I'm only read one or two cases of that, but I think those people were revving too high. The transmission has a 8000K rev limit basically.

Looks like a great project - I remember when I first had the idea of modding my Camry I saw your Youtube video of the turbo 1MZ coupled to an automatic...it gave me inspiration to do what I'm doing now...keep up the good work!

Maybe you'd want to slap some carbon brakes on that beast, eh???:lol::lol:

welcome the the 5 speed club LOL

nice man that camry is going to be even more epic! :)

the actual swap took me 18 hours but i didnt count how many time i spent researching shopping for parts and trying to understand the wiring schematic!

BTW king, i got rid of my E shift solenoid code!!! i just hooked a resistor to it... yeah its that simple! look on the wiring diagram and you'll see "sl" on the shift solenoid harness... just jam a resistor to that and BAM no cel anymore! at least it worked for me!
