This is my video on how to program wireless remotes exactly how the Toyota or Lexus dealership does.

I use the TIS Techstream,
Adapter and software was included.

Sorry for the horrid video quality, Cell phone cams suck...

Hope this helps people.

Finally after hours of searching page after page.....this is the correct info. FYI I just found the cable on Amazon for $27. This is a lifesaver. funman1 you're the BEST!!!
I am a total techstream noobie so I got a couple questions.

So to be able to use techstream you need:

A computer

The tech stream software (where do you get it?)

And the tech stream cable (which you found on ****).

Can you link where you got the software and cable form on ***? I can't find it.

Thanks

Utah glad I could help!! :)
I have not tried to program transponder keys with TIS yet.
I see it in the menus but have not tried it.

I was able to program my brothers '08 4Runner by using his last working transponder key.
Insert the key 5 times and remove, on the 5th insert leave the key in the ignition, then immediately open and close the driver door 6 times, leave driver door closed on the 6th time. The security light should stay on steady indicating it's in programming mode then quickly pull out the good key and insert the key to be programmed. Then the security light will blink for 1-2 mins. When the light goes off you are ready to go, start the engine.
If the light just keeps blinking the repeat until it works.

Let me see if I can find a video on it.

EDIT: Here ya go, visual steps from what I said above.

I know!! My brother was like,
"Really? you seriously think this is going to work on my car?!?!?!?" hahahah
He thought I was NUTS!!!

Until I programmed 2 new keys for him so he now has 3 and I got the keys for him off ebay for $5 bucks each.
Dealer had quoted him $450 for two new keys + programming.
He promptly stopped laughing at me after the first key worked!! haha

I saved him over $440 bucks!!!

I don't know because I don't have one to test.
HOWEVER some person has been commenting on my video and claims you CAN do it with the software!
Check out the comments on the video if you want to try and follow his instructions :)

Techstream Version?

I was following the procedure in the video and I have had trouble getting the programming to work. I was wondering what version of techstream you were using. I tried doing mine with 10.0.0.28 and that did not have the option of wireless entry diagnosis that you show in the end.

Also, I have trouble getting my keyless entry to work. I would greatly appreciate any help from any of you.

Thank you

This process worked to add the remote from my 2008 Tacoma to my wife's 2012 Highlander. Thank you, funman1.

Looks weird if I hit Lock or Unlock when I'm in the garage and both vehicles respond in sync ;-) Much better for my key ring than buying a second remote for the Highlander (purchased used with one remote, one master key and one copy) and having to carry two remotes.

Cable and CD from ***** for under $20. Less than the price of a remote on ebay. Don't have back hatch release with the 3 button remote, but it's manual so remote operation doesn't exist. Being able to unlock doors before I get to the vehicle is all I need.

Next week I'll try adding a transponder key (NOT smart key, just immobilizer). We tend to keep vehicles a long time (the Camry we traded in was 20 years old) so I want to get extra keys made before wear on the master key makes the mechanical cutting process an iffy proposition.

Added a Toyota master key today. In Techstream. go to Immobilizer, then Registration and follow the instructions. Took more than a minute to complete the update but it worked.

I didn't make a video for the keys, BUT I was able to do it for a member on this very forum. He was from LA, but was up here in NorCal for some reason so he stopped by and I was able to add a chipped key via TS to his brand new 2015 Corolla.
It was not bad at all and took about 3 mins total.
If I ever get a vehicle that needs this in my possession long enough I will make a video on it too.

Am pretty well convinced to buy a new fob on line and follow your video as I have not had any success finding a SEER number source on line. The only concern I have seen about getting the inexpensive software and cable sets sold on ebay is that the software from china etc works on only 32 bit XP systems and not on 64 bit systems, like my W7 Home PRemium. What OS were you using in yr video and did you have any problem with the download? Thanks for any insights..

I was responding to Funman's earlier post
which is the best I've seen on programming a new key using the tech stream software. I still had a couple of questions which I asked him but haven't heard back yet. One is the use of an inexpensive China=made cable for $17.00 on Ebay. I have read where the discs are programmed to run on 32 bit software. So I am trying to confirm if they will actually run on 64 bit W7-Home Premium. If you buy a brand new, unprogrammed smartkey on line it (should) work with the TechStream software as per his video. If you buy a used smartkey, one which has been 'wiped' clean, to a 'virgin' condition, you will still need to come u p with a SEED number - the 96 digit random number generated by Toyota before you can use the TechStream software. Funman's demo featured a brand new key. Here is another link which explains some more. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...3/1065282-smartkey-remote-fob-programming-new-used-toyota-highlander-prius.html

Actually, I have it working on a 64 bit Windows 7 Professional version.

The process is to modify the registry to convert the 32 bit input from the device to 64 bit and then feed it to the software. I did this along time back but I do have the registry file which needs to be merged with the registry. Google for - tis software mvci xhorse registry file - and the first few search results will provide the details of creating the .reg file.

Of course, the usual disclaimer applies, I am not responsible for anything screwed up in the process. Do this if you understand what is happening.

PS: Mods, I hope I am not violating any rules of TN. If I am, then please free to delete any particular details/complete post.

You should be in the clear, not telling where to get hacked software, or how to hack it.. Just instructions on how to create a 64 bit driver which should be no issues.
:)
You should post a reg file or driver file for us to use 64bit :)

I understand that a person takes their own risk in getting anything from the internet, esp from China, etc. Unfortunately creating the fix described for a 64 bit OS is above my pay-grade at this point in life. Thanks for your insights.

If you ever decide to publish a new edition of your find tutorial, it might not hurt to include those caveats about needing to use a 32 bit W7, risks involved in loading on any other driver, etc.

I have also read on these forums that sometimes people who have obtained an internet product have found when they do get it downloaded and open and run it, it comes with a request for a license #, which really blows peoples' minds; another risk of the internet software..

The valid file extensions for uploading the file are - bmp gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png txt.

So I have uploaded the tis.txt file and am giving instructions for the procedure. Download the file and open it in Notepad. Save the file again using the "Save as..." menu option under File in the menubar. For the option "Save as Type" choose the option - "All Files". For filename, make it - tis.reg. The last part ".reg" is required, the first part of the name "tis" can be changed.

Open the Windows Explorer and browse to the directory containing the tis.reg file. Right Click on the file and then click on the first option - Merge.

Done.
