05 Corolla CE Low Beams Not Working, High Beams Work

This was likely mentioned else where but I am not the best at search forums. Somewhat of a noob to working on cars, definitely a noob to electrical work on this car but today I noticed my Low Beams are not working. High beams are good, all other lights work fine, just the low beams. Other than the bulbs themselves(which I plan to check), what else should I check to figure it out? Checked the fuses, they're all good. I haven't checked the relay, couldn't get it out at the time nor do I really know how to check it. I read somewhere about using a Voltmeter, which I have one, but I am not exactly sure on how to do that. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance y'all!

Is your handbrake on at all? I noticed that on both our matrix, and our Previa that the low beams wont come on if the hand brake is on even one click or so. My mother asked me to replace the low beams on her matrix once because they were not working, and it turned out that she had just forgotten to release the handbrake.

Double check the low beam connector and ensure the lock tab is locked onto the bulb.

Inspect the filament in the bulb isn't broken.

Inspect the fuse for broken link. Replace if it is. There are spare fuses in the under hood fuse box. IIRC 10A, 15A, and a 5A.

If both high beam headlights are not working, check the basics.

1) Fuse. If the fuses are good, we can assume you will get power using a voltmeter. Should still check it though. Set the voltmeter to measure DC 12V. Probe the terminals on the headlight sockets to see if you get any power. Should be around 12V DC with engine off and about 14V with engine on.

2) Connections. Easily overlooked. Check the bulbs pins and make sure they contacts are clean. Clean up any sign of corrosion. Trace your wires to locate the ground to ensure its solid. Rule this out as this can affect power going to the high beam circuit. This link here might help with checking your ground https://itstillruns.com/check-bad-ground-headlight-6670327.html

3) Test the headlight bulbs. You can use the 12V battery to wire up the headlight bulb to test it. Grab 2 spare wires and tap the positive/negative poles and the other end of the wires can touch the pins of the headlight bulb. If the bulbs light up, the problem is not the bulbs. Be careful as to not touch two positive leads as this may lead to a short and a world of headaches. If you have another vehicle that takes the same bulb then this would be a better method to test as you can relocate the two bulbs onto that car to test. If they light up fine, the problem is on your car. If they do not light up, get some new replacement bulbs.

Hoping this helps. Please share an update on this so we can help.
