I have a 1994 Tercel. Running fine since i've owned it for almost 3 years. We recently had more snow in 3 weeks then we usually have in 10 years and temps were below 0 (celsius) so i let it sit for about 10 days and drove my mini van. When i dug it out and went to start it, it turned over but would not start. I cranked that sucker over and over for at least 20 mintues and it almost started but just wouldn't go. I pulled out a plug and i have spark. I pulled off the gas line and when i turn it over i have fuel pumping out. i eventually sprayed some started into the air intake for the injectors and it finally started. it ran rough for about 20 minutes and when i drove it sputtered and kicked but after about 30 minutes ran great. next morning it cranked a couple times and then started. then the snow hit again and it sat for 5 more days. When i dug it out.. same thing. When i get it started it drives and accelerates fine. there is no indication that it is fuel starved when i floor it. I got it started this past monday and drove it a few hours and then tuesday, no go again. Its always started first time everytime. Never a problem. Any suggestions?

Not pump the pedal just press it.

Engine starts OK when warm. How about if just left for a few hours and not over night?

The engine has a cold start injector that adds more fuel when the coolant is cold. If it starts when using fluid the injector may not be working. The issue is typically the temp sensor.

When you pulled the plugs was there fuel on them?

When you broke the system open to check the fuel flow did gas spray out under pressure. The engine has a fuel pressure regulator sticking or not working fuel pressure will not build up.

You might review the info on the fuel system at the link below:

when pedal pressed to the floor I still get the same result.

It does start again same day after being left for a few hours.

there was no gas when i broke the line, i had to turn the ignition first to get the gas going.

I am not able to work on it again until Sunday so i will pull the plugs and check them again. they did not look wet the first time i pulled them.

Unless your spark plugs are chalk white or wet when you pull them, I wouldn't suspect the fuel pump or FPR right away. First, check the condition and color of your plugs. If they are the normal brownish color, you should clean your TB first since it has the tendency to build up carbon and oil deposits over time on the butterfly and in the IAC. You can do this with Seafoam or you can use throttle body cleaner. Also, replace your fuel filter if it hasn't been done recently (within past 50K miles). Is your CEL on?

Ok, I will check all the plugs when i pull them out. As I say, won't be until Sunday as I work Tues - Sat. The IAC butterfly is very clean and when i look into it, it also is quite clean but it never can hurt to clean it. I haven't change the fuel filter in 3 years so i will defiently look at that. appreciate all the info so far!
oh and the first time I started it the CEL light was on for approx 20 minutes. then it went off and did not come back on the second time i got it started 5 days later.
