1996 Camry Dashboard "BRAKE" Light Always On

I have a 1996 Camry LE 4 cylinder, and recently, the "brake" light is often and intermittently on while the handbrake is not engaged. I've read that it could mean the brake fluid is low, contaminated, lacking pressure, etc., but I have fairly new fluid, full to were it needs to be, and the system was properly bled last time I serviced it. The brakes work fine, though the pedal has always had a lot more travel than those in newer cars. Newer cars just seem way more sensitive. Like I said though, it's always been that way and the brakes work just fine. I have already inspected the switch under the center console that detects whether or not the handbrake is engaged, and it works as perfectly intended. Maybe the sensor that detects the brake fluid level (I've read that there is one) is malfunctioning? Any pointers on what I should do?

Sometimes the float switch gets stuck. Rapping on the MC lightly can sometimes free it up.

Other possibility is the parking brake isn't fully released. If it's got a pedal, sometimes they don't come fully up. Pull on the release and lift up on the pedal with your toe.

If your handbrake is fully released and your brake fluid level is fine, disconnect the switch at the base of the MC reservoir when the car is on. If the light goes out, then your brake fluid level switch is stuck or busted. After disconnecting it, you test the handbrake switch for shits and giggles by pulling up on it to see if the light comes back on.

I have a stuck one in my '00, I just leave it disconnected. I figure I check under the hood often enough that I'll notice low brake fluid before it becomes a problem.
