I have a 1996 Camry LE 4 cylinder, and recently, the "brake" light is often and intermittently on while the handbrake is not engaged. I've read that it could mean the brake fluid is low, contaminated, lacking pressure, etc., but I have fairly new fluid, full to were it needs to be, and the system was properly bled last time I serviced it. The brakes work fine, though the pedal has always had a lot more travel than those in newer cars. Newer cars just seem way more sensitive. Like I said though, it's always been that way and the brakes work just fine. I have already inspected the switch under the center console that detects whether or not the handbrake is engaged, and it works as perfectly intended. Maybe the sensor that detects the brake fluid level (I've read that there is one) is malfunctioning? Any pointers on what I should do?
