1999 Toyota Avalon XLS antenna problem. How to troubleshoot and fix?

My after-market AM-FM radio suddenly changed to receive a few FM stations and only one AM station. The radio installer said it's an antenna problem and to "come in". Toyota dealer said the same thing and to "come in". With Covid-19 around, I prefer to stay home and troubleshoot/repair this myself.

Could someone please post a link or diagram showing the complete antenna path with a good description? Would enjoy knowing the path from thevradio to the rear window antenna system.

The Owners Manual states on page 107;
YOUR RADIO ANTENNA
Your vehicle has an antenna printed on
the inside of the rear window.
NOTICE
Attaching the film (especially conductive
or metallic type) on the rear window will
noticeably reduce the sensitivity of the radio.

I'm not sure what film they are referring to,
I can only assume that it's referring to Tint.
