Hello all, I recently purchased a 2000 Camry with the 2.2L 4 banger. The motor was knocking when I bought it so the guy that owned it sold it to me cheap. I got the motor out of it yesterday and will be ordering a reman long block for it today. The car has like 260K on the clock so I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and change the tranny input shaft seal since the motor is out. However, I can't seem to find the SST to pull the old seal out and put the new one in. I have been able to find SST 09308–00010 Oil Seal Puller. But that is for removing the axle shaft seals I believe. Does anyone here know if there is a SST for removing the input shaft seal on the transmission and what the procedure is for replacing it? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I had the most PITA time removing it out of a IS250 A960E.

I was using the other Lisie seal puller, the one you use for crank/cam seal for the engine. No go. Nothing to leverage out.

I'm surprised I didn't break the tool, but I had to pull at 12 oclock angle while using the transmission bell housing as leverage. I don't know how I got it out. I think I had to use my OTC hose puller and ghetto leverage on the transmission hosuing to remove it.

Didn't scratch or knick the shaft or the housing. Yay!

I've got a similar seal puller but I'm not real worried about getting the old one out. I've dug them out with 2 small flat blade screwdrivers before when I couldn't get a seal puller in there. I'm more concerned with getting the new seal installed with a shaft that long. Looks like you made one out of PVC fittings. I would've never thought of that. You actually drove that seal in with that PVC tool? Would you mind sharing what fittings and size they are? Looks like 1 inch in the picture but it's kinda hard to tell.
