I am considering buying this car that has electrical damage from a shorted alternator cable. No, I did not do it. Yes, I have read all the threads I could find about this issue, & what typically needs to be done to fix the issue. The difference is that this car also fried the 3 relays & 3 fuses (16,17,18) in the under hood #2 fuse box (small one in front of battery). That concerns me, none of the other posts mentioned anything like that. I know the 100 amp fuse is fried. I am wondering if there are any other damaged components. Has anyone had this happen or have experience similar to this?
Should I walk away from this project? Car is 2000 XLE V6 with 200K miles & some service records. Car looks okay for 200 plus years. I have never heard it run & obviously can't do so now. Owner wants $900 for car, which I think is too much. I offered $500. What is car worth & what repairs do you think it needs. Current owner took it to a Toyota dealership & they told him he only needed an engine wiring harness for $1500. Yo would think that they would have some experience in this type of repair.
Thanks for your replies.
