Hey everyone! My 2002 corolla transmission recently got messed up and I have to replace it. I know that the 1998 - 2002 Corollas share the same model. Does that mean a 2000 Corolla automatic transmission will work on my 2002 Corolla as a replacement? I bought a 2000 Toyota Corolla transmission from a junk yard the other day. Thanks

I have a good friend who works at a salvage yard. I had him look up the interchange for your car. He says that his salvage interchange indicates that 2000-2002 Corolla auto transmissions are interchangeable. Just make sure if you have a 3-speed stay with the 3-speed, if you have a 4-speed you have to stay with a 4-speed model. Hope this helps.

??? Too small. Have no idea what the shop is talking about - maybe have them tell you exactly what they mean. As long as you replaced the existing A131L 3-speed with another A131L 3-speed - you are good to go.

There might be stuff missing from the donor transaxle that might have to be transferred over (brackets, etc.). But size that is physically "smaller" - sounds like the shop is confused.

Chevy Prism is mechanically similar to the Corolla. There are some differences - but most are electrical in nature / auxiliary components - most of the major parts are identical.
