2002 JBL amp dead?

I have a 2002 Avalon with the JBL audio system. The rear sun doesn’t produce any sound and the back door speakers are very quiet. Seems like a safe assumption the amp is offline, just don’t know how to confirm. I got the bolt out that holds it in, but can’t get it loose. Seems like the various wiring harnesses are holding it in. Will it be easier to work on if I remove the seat? Any advice on this is appreciated.

OH BOY. Buckle up.

1. Yes. This will be way easier if you remove the seat.
2. IMPORTANT: unplug your battery before you remove the seat and let her sit for a few minutes. Those things are heavier than you would think. Before you unplug the battery, make sure the seat is in the middle position (not too far back or forward.) Also make sure that you raise it upwards and bring the backrest up. This will keep you from wrestling with them like I did.
3. troubleshooting. Check your connections. Make sure there isn’t a milkshake or something spilled on the wiring harnesses. There are two on that amp. Also check the connection behind your head unit just to make sure it’s all good. I have the wiring diagram for the whole sound system if you would like:)
4. if you decide to get a new sound system and not use the JBL amp, you’re going to need to either run a factory amp bypass harness, rewire the whole car, or get REAL ghetto (can explain if needed, don’t recommend unless youre very confident in your soldering abilities.)

I'm probably missing something obvious here but why do you need to rewire the entire car if you decide not to use the JBL amp. Can't you swap out the factory amp with an aftermarket one (4-channel?) and maintain the existing wiring to the speakers?
