Having issue with fitting new front door speakers because of the mounting height. I bought some Rockford Fosgate power series 6x9s. They won't fit because of how far the magnet won't clear the window when its down. Question is can I go with something smaller with using a bracket. Have anyone have this issue as well input would be appreciated thanks.

Carlos,

The best advice I can give you is to log onto www.Crutchfield.com. ill out what car you have and they will have many options for you in the speaker department. Site will tell you what fits and what does not. You even get wiring harness and adapters or free or for a very reasonable price. I have been ordering from them for over 20 years will no problems.

I have 6x9's in my front doors. I did use a normal 6x9 ~1" thick speaker adapter...

Mounting depth.... speaker might hit window.... should be plenty of room for most 6x9's out there when attached to proper adatper
Mounting height... speaker hits door panel.... which usually needs trimming or the door ring

I would grab the adapters from the junkyard. JBL 6x9 speakers have the adapter that should be a plug n play fit for aftermarket. Due to the factory adapter having height, I don't think the speaker magnets should be an issue, at least when I did the JBL GTO 6x9 series in my 2004 XLE V6.

I've been really picky with these speaker adapters. When new speakers are installed, the door panel O ring around the speaker doesn't sit flush with the new aftermarket speaker. Factory speakers has that 'foam' material. Been trying to find a way so it seats nicely.

So the aftermarket speaker 6x9 fits on the JBL speaker bracket and it still hits the window?

I’m not worried about the speaker not sitting flush with the adapter. They usually work okay. it’s the aftermarket speaker surround that times will rattle off the door panel O cutout where the factory speaker has a foam surrounding that sits flushed with the door panel plastic cut out and this can possibilty wear out the speaker surrounding in certain areas. I’ll try get a picture on what I’m trying to describe.
