Hello I am a owner of a new to me 2006 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4wd. Like many other my jbl factory speakers sound terrible if I’m playing anything with bass. I recently came across a kit From a company called Simply Speakers to replace the deteriorating foam in my front driver and passenger side jbl 7 inch speakers. After unscrewing the speaker I’m having issues detaching the small black electrical connector Clip at the rear of the speaker. Is the clip removable or are is it soldered in place. Clip seems quite fragile so I didn’t force it. Thanks in advance and I look forward to being part of the Toyota nation family.

I used that same kit on ours. I know it was fairly easy to remove the wiring harness, I just can't remember if it was those connectors or if it was a short pigtail to a connector. Either way I know it was just unplug, no desoldering or cutting.
Follow their directions/video and you can't go wrong. I'm very pleased with how mine turned out.

Was finally able to get the clips off with minimally bleeding fingers. To take the clip off lift the two side portions of the clip up, while holding one side up with a finger use a small flathead screwdriver to simultaneously hold the opposite side of the clip open. While both sides are open take a regular flat head screw driver and push in between the two metal connections on the black plastic to push the entire clip forward and off. I’m So happy to have this done and the speakers sound great! Kit was from Simply Speakers and came out to 28 bucks shipped, I got it in 3 days. Overall straightforward process, took around 3 hours but most of it was just waiting on glue to dry. Saved me a ton of money I was quoted $400 for the most inexpensive speaker replacement lol....yeah right
