Video quality is excellent. Bluetooth quality is nice, I can hear well and others say I sound clear. It took the contacts from my "dialed" list and listed those in the recent calls section of the phone function. It worked on my phone, but not my wifes(for some reason!). Its kina hard to dial on the touchscreen while driving though. The included iPod interface is nice, but a bit cumbersome to control. The nav system is EXCELLENT and is relatively easy to use. The included remote is a bit complicated and reminds me of a remote from a cheap DVD player(still credit card sized though). The only thing that bugs me is while it includes a steering wheel control adapter, the "next track" or "next preset" function on the steering wheel does not work as it did before. It now will forward within a track(fast forward) or will tune 1 frequency at a time(88.1, 88.3, 88.5 etc.). So far, this is my only gripe. Other than that, I think its a great unit that looks VERY close to factory. I liked it better than using a kit for install.

Let me know what you all think...

Colors match perfectly....The nav looks a bit cartoon I suppose...but it works for me....Oh yeah, Another gripe...the side buttons and pannel dont light up...only the knows have light and there is light around the buttons...Ill take another pic when it gets dark...
When I first saw this head unit on Ebay I thought the side buttons were back lit.

Night pics as promised...The buttons do light up, the little dash marks on the buttons, but you really cant see the type as to what each button does above it. I guess I wish it lit up like the factory stereo...NICE AND BRIGHT!!!

The deck has Front, Rear and Sub outputs...Crossover, phase control and level controls for the subwoofer output.

Nav loads faster than a CD based system since its stored on an SD Card. SD Card also allows maps can be updated as needed usng the included card reader and usb cable.

DVD loads as fast as my last unit, an Alpine IVA-D200 in my Tahoe. I'm not sure how it compares to the Eclipse or Kenwood.

Some of the other units I looked at were pretty slow to load DVD, but this one seems to work pretty well.

Thanks. Yeah, the other Nav/DVD units I am looking at right now are the Pioneer AVIC and the Eclipse AVN series.

Nice review. I was wondering about this unit... I saw it after I ordered my AVIC-D3. I don't feel so bad now... I really enjoy the iPod control the AVIC offers.

It sucks that the buttons don't light up but at least there's only 8 to remember... not really a big deal.

Is the appearance customizable (buttons, backgrounds, etc)? Does it require the vehicle to be stopped to play DVDs or do certain phone/nav functions? If so, is it easily bypass-able? (Note: I'd never watch DVDs while driving, although it can be handy for passengers.)

Enjoy your new head unit

The price on eBay is reflective of retail prices I found. A friend owns a shop so I was able to get it below cost at $1300. Cost on the unit is $1450, so he's selling them for $1500 installed.

I didnt like the way the D3 looked, plus I didnt want to use a kit. I looked at oem value, but I would have had to spend the extra $250 since I dont have the JBL system. I seriously considered it though because I wanted factory look. This became the best alternative.

Ya...I wish the buttons lit up, but oh well. background is customizable but the buttons on the touch screen are not. The system is grounded using by grounding the parking wire to something metal, allowing DVD's to be played while driving. I also liked that even if the iPod, DVD or video functions wereworking, the voice prompts for the nav still came through.

My opinion, I wanted OEM look and I got a good price. Otherwise, I would have gone with the Eclipse or Kenwood.

If anyone in NorCal is interested, PM me and I will get you in touch with the shop that did it. Like I said, he's selling them at $1500 installed if you're looking for OEM look and don't have JBL.

Looks really nice. I'm in Norcal and might be interested in talking your friend, but I have JBL plus I installed XM. Any idea if the aftermarket JBL-adaptors will work on this headunit? And does it have the same satellite radio connector as the factory unit?
