Hello all. I have owned my 2008 AWD HL for 4 months now, and I love it. It is approaching 91k miles, and I bought it around 3k miles ago.

According to Toyota using my VIN, this car underwent major engine work with just under 7k miles in 2009. I'm hoping it's a good thing. Customer brought it in hearing engine rattle. The car was built in Japan in August 08.

See below for all the parts replaced.

It is the Limited Trim and in very good condition. I was just curious if those on here in the know would have purchased this car knowing this is part of the car's history. Water pump was done at around 55k, and nothing really major that I can tell. Oil changes and other maintenance seems to check out.

Thanks all.

Have a good day and stay safe!

Pat.

I also wouldn't be concerned. At 7K miles, I'm sure it was just bad luck (or a factory manufacturing problem) that this Highlander happened to have some internal defect. If the mileage was higher, I might be concerned it was due to neglect/lack of maintenance, but that's pretty clearly not the case here.

Interesting, the camshaft gear assembly is what failed on mine and led to an engine swap (with 200k). Unusual for it to fail at such low mileage but agree, you're way past the point of worrying about it,
