Ok - hit the dealers this week and learned the 2009 was never made. Toyota had so many 2008s - nobody was buying - so they held off and will only build a 2010 model. The 2010s are due in middle to late summer.

 

You are correct that the '09 Sequoia was never released in the U.S. In Canada, it was released. I received mine in January. I think the reason we received '09's is that there was not a big inventory of '08's sitting on dealers lots up here so it made sense to release an '09 model. I don't think there was much of difference between '08's and '09's other than the model year.

While waiting for my 2008 Sequoia's 15,000 service yesterday, I wandered around the dealer's new car lot. This dealer had only one SR5 with the small V8. A salesman came out and I told him I was just killing time, but I noted on the window info sheet that it was a 2010 model. He said they never received 2009's and as far as he could see, there was little difference between the 2010's and 2008's. This Sequoia was painted a color that was not offered on the 2008's, but that was all I could see that was different.
