2010 Corolla LE Trunk lever not opening trunk

The trunk lever on my 2010 Corolla LE doesn't open my trunk. I first noticed my latch wasn't working and also my key cylinder. (Hadn't used the cylinder in a long time so it froze up) I ordered new ones and got them installed them and the pull lever still wouldn't pop the trunk. I then moved on to the trunk release cable, figuring maybe it either needed some lubrication or maybe the cable was weak. After lubricating the pull lever and moving it back and forth the cable broke after a few pulls. I then ordered and installed the new trunk release cable and everything functions as intended as far as the cable goes goes it pulls the latch well but it still won't open the trunk. After alot of experimenting I found that if I loosen the bolts on the strike plate the lever opens it just fine. But if I tighten the bolts all the way, it won't open. The key fob, cylinder, and emergency release all open it just not the pull lever. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks in advance

Thank you. I did adjust it a bit and it would unlock for about 3 or 4 pulls but then stop unlocking again after that. I figured if those bolts are too tight maybe that prevents the latch from disengaging when I pull the lever. I don't see the bolts coming off so I think I will leave it the way it is with a little bit of play in it since it seems to work best that way

Thanks, I think I'll leave it a bit loose since it seems to be opening with it that way. As far as the car goes I bought it used but a few years ago but I know it's not from an accident since it just happened recently, I haven't been in an accident since I bought it. Who knows the reason behind it. Thanks again
