the Temperature buttons on the right side of the steering wheel don't work. temp up and down, auto, and off. the display and the talk button work. does anybody know the best way to trouble shoot this. has this happened to anybody else? did you have to replace both sides of the steering wheel since all the wires go to the same place or are you able to take the side apart that doesn't work and fix it?

I don't suspect the clock spring because all of the other buttons on the steering wheel work and the horn works. I checked it out today and took apart the button assembly and all of the contacts look good and don't seem worn out. so I'm not really sure where to go from here.

It would be helpful to know the history of this problem. Has this been your truck for a while and they used to work but now don't? ===OR=== Is this a "new to you" vehicle and they never worked since you owned it?

You really will need a good wiring diagram at this point to check continuity of wires and validate that those button contacts change states when you depress them.

It could be something very simple like the prior owner didn't like those buttons on the wheel and unplugged the connector where they attach to some HVAC module under the dash.

You also cannot rule out the clockspring. I have had cars with bad clocksprings where only a couple of the dozens of buttons on the wheel failed to work.

It looks like those buttons go straight from the pad to the clock spring/"spiral cable assembly" and then straight to the A/C control assembly. I'm assuming the AC control assembly is just the block of buttons that control the AC. dose anybody know how to access the other side of the clock spring with out disassembling the entire steering wheel? is that possible?
