2010 Yaris transmission fluid?

I do not use my local Toyota Stealership due to several issues in the past. They simply do not know the cars they are selling.
AND, like certain motorcycle dealerships, they seek to gouge their LOYAL customers with "their" product. Hardly diferent, sometimes inferior, product.
Loyality should go BOTH ways. To the buyer as well as to the seller.
Granted, there are probably some good dealerships out there...just don't know any. Dealerships have actually damaged my newly-bought vehicles in the past, using wrong wrenches, etc. I trust my own work FAR beyond what I have seen at the dealerships.

I am changing my transmission fluid with a NON-Toyota brand, and want to know which had the best results. Prefer a synthetic.

So: what has been your ACTUAL results of which non-Toyota brand transmission fluid?

(Toyota Loyalists, who like the "throw cash at the problem" approach and would actually prefer to over-pay for everything, and not be directly involved in the maintenance of their investment, need not respond.)

Wow...your post seems a bit hostile.

That said....how many miles do you have on your Yaris? I know manual for both of our '10 Yaris never even calls for an official changing of the fluid...but rather just a "check and inspect" beginning at 30K miles. I may change it as these cars hit 50k miles anyway....though I'll do the work myself.

Like most newer Toyotas, the '10 Yaris uses Toyota's "WS" fluid. This is a different fluid than the older type-4. So what ever synthetic you use will need to be the equivalent of the WS.

Good information, thanks.
35,000 miles on it, it never has shifted perfectly, staying in low gear much too long when first starting out...figured this is by design. Now not too sure. Yes, I will be checking regularly, and changing shortly and filter, before 50,000 miles.
What brands have folks reading this used?

"Hostile"? Depends on your definition...didn't mean to give that impression. "Bitter" would be a more accurate term. "Determined to not contribute to a corrupt business practice" even more so...

Interesting. One of the positives to the Yaris' auto is that it's smooth and responsive. Both my wife's and mine are quite nice. Do you mean that it takes a while to shift out of first? 'Cause I've always felt just opposite...with first and second gear being rather short for some peppiness...with 3rd and 4th quite a bit taller for economy.

Can't really help you as to which synthetic to use. As mentioned in some of the links, WS may very well be a syn to begin with...hence Toyota not really mentioning a change interval...but just an "inspection".
