I, and many others, have expressed serious interest about dual exhaust for their I4 based Camry’s. I also know there are other options out there like Borla, but if you’re looking for a Toyota part and really don’t want that Borla sound… there may be hope for another option. As many of you may know, the Aussie Camry Atara S (I4 only) models are delivered stock with dual exhaust. So, just for grins, I started doing a little checking around and made contact with an Aussie Toyota dealer in Brisbane. After explaining our poor US Camry dilemma, they sent me the part numbers and exhaust diagram for their Atara S.

Doing a review, and based strictly on the diagrams and “similar” part numbers, the front I4 exhaust pipes appear identical and the center “Y” pipe for the Aussie model appears to be a direct bolt-on replacement for the current single exhaust US center pipe. It also looks nothing like the center “Y” pipe on the US V6 models. Obviously there could be a diameter difference or something... but to confirm the fit I tried to go ahead and order the part. Unfortunately, the dealer in Brisbane said that they're not set up for international business and would be unable to help unless I was standing at their parts counter. Damn…

The Toyota part # is 17420-0V130 and is about $105.00 US. I think that’s pretty reasonable. So… perhaps some of you guys can do some searching… or perhaps we could get the Cool Springs parts guy to see what he thinks… if there is anything he can do for ordering… or if we could possibly do a group buy or something. Still needed will be the muffler(s), hangers, & shields but none of those should be an issue (new or salvage) and “should” all bolt right up. At-any-rate, doing a web search for the part the results I get are all from Russia or the UAE. Not so good….

here are the exhaust diagrams and part numbers for you guys to compare for yourselves. Nothing like a peer review for a sanity check…. Thanks and…

Best to all, Dave

Nice work… but if we could get Toyota part # 17420-0V130, we wouldn’t need a shop at all. The remaining parts could easily be sourced new or from salvage, bolted up in a couple of hours at home, and we’d have real Toyota Camry duals without the raspy Borla sound. As expected, this would be for cosmetics only… but as you said, and according to Toyota Australia, you do get about an extra 2.7 monstrous HP with duals.

Thanks DTakas… for the constructive input. Your exhaust came out lookin’ really nice. Hopefully, with as many Camry’s that have been produced 2012-16 finding the correct mufflers via salvage won’t be too much of a problem. That center “Y” pipe though… is a big PITA. Like you, I may consider modding a salvaged V6 piece but even those are expensive because they include the converter… and that will be cut away… so I may search around for a while. I’d just much rather have the correct part. Speaking of which... I got a reply from Roman at Cool Springs Toyota and he has no way to order the Aussie “Y” because it is JDM/EDM only and not available to US customers. I did however find a place in the UAE that sells and will ship the pipe but I’m a bit concerned about their viability/security and what it will really cost to ship. Last, my youngest daughter went to school at QUT in Brisbane for a bit and still has friends there. So perhaps I may be able to go that route. No worries...the search continues….

Perhaps you misunderstood. Roman at Cool Springs sent a note saying that he Could Not get the 17420-0V130 center "Y"pipe because it’s JDM/EDM only and not available in the U.S. I’m still searching and after failing with dealers in Australia, I have only one solid lead that’s in the UAE... but I still have a few other feelers out around the globe. Requesting TRD in the US to supply the part is also a thought.

At-any-rate, “if” the UAE source turns out to be reliable and the only source I can find... the current estimate is $85 for the pipe and $65 for shipping (on a very slow boat) but they're re-checking because the part is unboxed. I’m currently not at all sure how this might work out. I was also kind of hopeful that once I got a part # I might have found it at some JDM source here... but no luck with that either. All I can say is thanks for the interest and feel free to join the search.

BTW...how'd you think the build looked on the Russian DIY link above? From the photo's the center pipe looks a tick off-center...but I not sure if that really matters or if that's how it is supposed to look.

Not misunderstood, just missed an entire important post. Very unfortunate not to be able to find locally.

It definitely looks a little of center, hard to say what may be going on without better picture of upfront because it's looks like it starts out off center in the opposite direction up front.

dtakas could you explain what parts you used for your dual exhaust. I want to do duals. it just amazes me that for a car that underneath is the same whether you have the 4 or the v6 that the dual for the 6 wouldn't fit the 4. its also amazing that the parts department in the us cant get parts from the aussie especially when its the same damn car. i am sure i can get it custom exhaust but if i can get the parts and bolt it up myself that would be better.

Toyota needs to upgrade appearance ..... esp. LE .. start with dual exhausts

My gosh ... even the lowest of low end Altima S comes with chrome tip dual exhausts. I hope for the 2018 Camry, Toyota gets a grip on what's in style in the 21st century. Since almost all cars look alike these days, the only way to distinguish themselves from the most boring of the mid sized sedan crowd is nice wheels and dual (chrome tip or built into the bumper) exhausts ... and Toyota flunks both on the LE anyway.

Those Cheap a$$ high profile 16" balloon style "S" rated wheels & tires and ugly duckling steel non-chrome tip tail pipe with no 17" "appearance upgrade option" like they (used to? still do) offer in Canada.

To bad you have to jump to the 32K XLE.V6 to get a decent looking car with $4,000 worth of options you'd pay not to have ... like burning hot leather seats and a monroof which produces lower head room and is prone to rattles.

Just venting .... sorry.

Its funny you touched on those bumper inserts for exhaust..

Every time I look at them i see the tiny exhaust pipe just sitting right behind the inserts making the whole thing look cheap.

As for the dual exhausts, theres mandrel bent tubing kits sold online that can be cut to fit anything. Anyone with a welder can fab it up with a couple tig welds. Personally, I would cut in my own "Y" from both pipes at a 45* angle and mate them to the OEM flange.
As for muffler options, a true straight thru muffler will work perfectly as the pulses and sound will be divided into the 2 mufflers and wont be restrictive.

Mandrelbends.com has the kits, supplies and tips. and VibrantPerformance.com has some of the best sounding mufflers.
