How is your 2012 Camry holding up as far as interior rattles and squeaks go?

The best feature about this car is the blissful quietude of its interior. Seems very well put-together, which is a radical departure from my 2003 LE Camry.

However, I have noticed a rattle (albeit slight) in the passenger door frame somewhere. I think it might be the seat belt bracket. When I tap lightly on the adjusting mechanism within that plastic shroud, it rattles a LOT. And mine has significant horizontal movement within that shroud.

And yet, I'm not even sure that that's the source of my rattle.

That being said, I am hypersensitive to noises like that, and I'm not sure such a thing can ever be fixed.

My solution - right now - is to turn up the radio.

Mine's mostly quite too, thank god. The wind noise near the window gets my attention, though. I hope Toyota comes out with a fix for that.

Suggestion: one of you drive the car while the other sits in the back seat and see if they can find the source of the rattle.

Get a rattle every now and then from the grab handles (sounds like its coming from the b-pillar on the driver/passenger side) and i get a pop from the sunroof when the body flexes over a angled dip or speedbump. both very minor and unless it was to get worse i could care less.

push button on seat belt position lock/adjuster was vibrating a bit, removed B-pillar cover and fixed it with piece of packing foam.
all quiet now.
yesterday I drove with my buddy in his daughter's 2010 sonata...
noisy and alot of rattle on rough pavements.
camry is miles ahead of in terms of ride comfort and quietness.

Not to throw off topic but we had a 2010 sonata in service last week with 20k miles.. 4 cyl non turbo. valve cover leaking, front timing cover leaking and oil pan gasket was soaked. This really turned me off about hyundai... i've had buddies tell me but i didn't expect it to be that bad. :headbang:

rattles

2012 SE I4 I am surprised when you tap things under the hood, whether it be the hood insulator or any plastic panels around the hood latch striker and underneath the bumper fascia how much they rattle, yet you do not hear it inside. Just does not convey that quality feel, but somehow it works.

My 2009 BMW Z4 rattled and picked up 3 times more road noise than my current Camry SE V6. No complaints other than the occasional wind noise.
:)
My nephew drives my brother’s in law 2002 GS300.
150-160K and still unbelievably quiet and comfortable. easily goes to 90-100 MPH.
My B.in L. drive RX350 now, it is very nice but can’t touch GS level of quitness.
One of the best built cars I ever seen and drove.

We discovered a rattle, almost more like a buzz, when driving on pavement that has a rough seal coat. It is kind of annoying. The good news is that you don't often have to drive on pavement that is that rough. And on new asphalt paved roads the interior is so quiet that it is kind of eerie.

If anyone has any thoughts on what might cause the buzz, I would really appreciate hearing about it. Not sure exactly where it is coming from, but generally seems to be the instrument cluster right in front of the driver. However, putting your hand in various places does nothing to dampen the sound. I run 38 psi in the tires, cold, so that may be contributing to it some...

Have a 6 year old Mazda 3 that was assembled in Japan, and it has never had a rattle of any kind.

I had buzz coming from "o-shit handle" :).
little bitty metal pin was slightly smaller than hole in the handle and unspringed side of the handle was making this noise.
took me a while to figure out what was buzzing.

My 2012 Camry SE V6 is quiet except for a popping sound that comes from the sunroof area when the body of the car is flexing going over bumps. Sometimes it doesn't make any noise for a day or so and then something sets it off and it pops for the remainder of the trip.

Had it in for service several times. There was a TSB for the 2011 model but it didn't fix anything. Annoying as hell.

SE V6, same same with the 'pop' over bumps from the roof. 2000 miles and nothing else..yet. My 2002 LE had a few at 50,000, but it never was horrid. Still quieter than my wifes Honda Civic LX. Not as quiet as my friends 07 Avalon.

Sunroof

I have a 2012 Camry s/e after driving it for about 4 months We heard a rattle that was very annoying and over the next couple of weeks we would look for it occasionally. While I was in the passenger seat I realized it was coming from above, I opened the cover and the noise is coming from the sunroof on the right side. I put pressure on the glass and the noise stopped completely. Any idea how the service department can fix this issue. They have my car now for a tune up and I did advise them, not sure what they will tell me :)

while sitting on driver side, punch the headrest passenger seat. you will discover the rattle coming from that side.. at first i thought it was that headliner handle. then i thought it was the headliner. now i dont have rattle on passenger side. the solution is pull the headrest then put some electrical tape on both.

Picked my car up the service man smiled and said let me know if you hear the rattle on the sunroof. I didn't for the first day and a half but whatever he tried to do to fix the rattle failed. It's back! Maybe I can stick a rag up there or something to at least muffle the noise..has anyone tried their own solutions? Vehicle still smells like Mildew as well, they said they cleaned it..and they stated they were unaware of the mildew smell problem :-O I told them to log on to Toyota Nation :)

2012 Camry SE rattle

Love the ride of my car. Bought it a month ago. It is very responsive and fun to drive. My only concern is the rattling sound I hear at 60mph or up. A popping sound is the best description and can be heard more when sitting in the back. Sound is coming from the mid console area that radiates to the back. I have emailed Toyota about this and the dealership has contacted me for inspection. If you have a rattling problem you need to let Toyota know. Right now the dealer says they don't have anyone else with similar complaints. Unless they don't hear from customers they will never come up with a fix. This is the new redesigned model & therefore problems will be found on this one. This is the link of where I sent my complaint.http://toyota.custhelp.com/app/ask/s/561/p/208,230

Update- Toyota contacted the dealership for me. I was scheduled to see the head technician. He took a test drive with me and immediately knew the problem. The car was lifted, heatshields underneath the car was removed & insulated. Rattling/popping sound was due to wind underneath when traveling at high speeds. I can't complain. Car is normally quiet now.

Funny you say that they told you they never received any other complaints... what a complete lie, that must be the same line they tell everyone! They even told me no one else complained about a mildew smell coming from the vents in the summer...I told them to log on to the Toyota site as it's a common problem effecting thousands. Toyota needs to suck it up stop pretending there are NO issues and just fix them...Wait a few more months mysuperwcamry these noises will only get louder and spread to a larger area of the car...I've had my car for 9 months, only 10,000 miles and it rattles like a grocery buggy with a muffed up wheel...

I just emailed Toyota with the link you provided with the same complaint as yours and about the mildew smell so they can't say they've not had anyone else complain :)

2012 Camry SE rattles

Hi! I thought I'd let you know that after I emailed Toyota with the link that they responded to my concerns. They contacted my local dealer and set up an appt with their head technician. We took it out for a test drive and right away he was able to recognize the problem. What I thought (rattling/popping sound) was coming from the console & can be heard more in the backseat, was coming from the floor underneath the car. It was wind related when driving on highway. They lifted the car removed and insulated the heat shields. Car now is normally quiet like it should be. No complaints now.

Awful interior noises

My 2012 TCH XLE w/16K miles now has a terrible, almost consistent rattle coming from near the glovebox and occasionally other parts of the dash. On top of that the roof has very loud clunks -- primarily when it is over 70 degrees F.

I had my dealer's service manager ride with me for about 15 minutes to listen to the dash noise. He heard it and was pushing to various places to figure out where it was coming from. He said they'd tear it apart and fix it. When I brought it back, the tech drove it for less than a mile, didn't hear it, claimed it was fine! Argh.

On the roof noise, we are waiting from a TSB and I'll probably still wait until others confirm it actually works. I have no faith in Toyota's ability to fix this roof issue based on all the faulty fixes over the last 15 months.

I bought my 2012 Camry Hybrid 3 month ago and the whole centre console squeaks and creaks. I can push lightly with my finger on any spot and it creaks. Ridiculously enough, when the engine started up as I accelerated from some lights in -40C weather this afternoon, the engine startup was jerkier than usual and it made my console creak.

I also have a ridiculously loud rattle from somewhere at the front of the cabin that I can't isolate.

The console around the gear stick creaks and squeaks. I also hear loud cracks in really cold weather but I don't know from where. I have a few other creaks and squeaks from the interior.

The centre console started creaking within the first week of ownership. It has almost 3000km on the clock after 3 months.

So in all honesty, if Toyota had a full refund option, I would take it.

I think all cars have some sort of rattle or wind noise. But if you compare the camry with competitors, camry is definitely much quieter. Friend of mine bought a new honda previous generation and car feels like a tin can at freeway speeds. My camry is greatly quieter. Once in a while ill hear some rattles or creaks that end up being something minor like seatbelt or something else. It's not a luxury car, so I'm not worried about it.

I had a squeak which was very annoying. It was a trim piece around the head unit. That was fixed in a day. The other intermittent rattle I had took place when it was below freezing outside. I had my car in and out of the dealership for approximately 20+ days. They tore the entire dash apart and found that the heather vent wasn't properly installed. They wrapped it with foam and now the car is silent. For those of you that say they never owned a car without a rattle....I find that incredible. I had a 2007 Infiniti G35X that had no rattles or squeaks of any kind. Even after 5 years. My Maxima before that was pretty decent as well.

The work was all covered under warranty, by the way.

had intermittent squeaks coming from radio face bezel time to time.
yesterday pulled radio out, disassembled it and was very surprised to see that face bezel actually just a trim part and goes on top of the main frame and was rubbing on it and making noise. removed bezel, applied thick electrical grease on all point that goes in contact with frame and squeaks disappeared.
did the same with clock bezel on top of the dash too.
got mile or so of very rough road on my way to work and heard no squeaks from the radio or console.
:D

been in Panama City Beach few times and can tell that FL roads are very new camry is pretty quiet but I'm going after LS 460 "no squeaks quiet".
:)
I took some pics and most likely will make a thread about it.
it might help to some one in states with rough roads.
