You might just want to spend $20 bucks on a 48 hr. subscription to the Toyota Service manual and download the procedure for the job your doing.

That mechanic doesn't like you much if you told you, you can do it yourself. Squeak and rattle city once you get everything back together

 

Could also try Alldata, 1 year subscription about the same. Good luck on this repair.......

 

And what if the mechanic was wrong?

 

LOL That would suck. Ripping apart a dash is not an easy job. Especially with all those nuts and bolts going to different areas.

 

Wouldn’t wish that job on my worst enemy.....Hyundai Sonata quite common issues with sticking doors. Not only the dash but dump r134 and coolant. Never too late to re-evaluate like GMT stated.

 

Makes me glad to know I have cables on my 2000Echo and 98 Sienna. Brother had a heater core replaced on his Thunderbird. 14 months later the replacement started leaking and the shop owner had died from a heart attack. Sometimes OEM is the only realistic option. The shop had a stellar reputation for decades, father passed it down to his ex marine son who was a mountain of a man and your best friend in a dark alley with danger ahead. Truly sad to loose him.

 

The blend door actuator is attached with two Phillips head screws. About the size of a cassette tape box. Above the gas pedal mount. Lay on your back on the floorboard and look. Disconnect the small harness and take the screws out, don’t lose them. New part is 39$ on Amazon and doesn’t come with those two screws.

 

Absolutely no help from these comments. Unless i have an oddball unit , this doesnt have the temp actuator on the drivers side. all the actuators are on the passenger side.
