I have a 2014.5 Camry, and the touch display on the radio no longer works. I've restarted it, and pulled out the fuses to try to reboot. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it went through a complete reboot.

When I pulled the fuses (a couple of times) the touch screen worked for a little while, then would stop working. Same with the buttons - but they lasted a little longer.

After re-installation, the touch screen worked for a short time, then died again. But, the buttons now continue to work.

This is not a problem with screen calibration, where you can slide a credit card in to make contact. The whole touch screen stops working. I tried the credit card trick to determine what kind of failure.

Does anyone know how this can be fixed without replacing the unit?

According to the Toyota support sight, there is no software update available.

I have the JBL system without navigation.

I've scoured the internet and this forum but see no mention of this particular problem.

Thank you.

i have fixed it myself last year on my 2014.5 camry. the digitizer (part #LA061WQ1) is the issue. the digitizer is a piece on front of the lcd that detects touch. you dont need a new lcd. replacement should fix it and no calibration needed. Part cost is around $20 or less from asia. If you're willing to wait 4-6 weeks you save a lot. otherwise google LA061WQ1 on ebay and you find them for $60-100. you need to pull out the head unit and start separating things by unclipping and pulling the ribbon cables. aliexpress link where i bought mine below. it's cheaper now when i bought it last year at $18+shipping.

by the way i've seen people try to fix digitizers with a heat gun along with the edges. so you can go that free route first. be sure to separate the digitizer from head unit first before using the heat gun trick. that may or may not fix it for you. you can do it while you wait for your new one if you have a lot of time on your hands.
