Last Saturday the truck would not start. All the bells and whistles worked, full power, and battery tested good. Wouldn’t even click. Wouldn’t start with the Jump starter. Thirty minutes later it started with no problem. Ran multiple errands Sunday afternoon with no issues.

Monday 3:00 PM it won’t start. Won’t start with jump starter or jumper cables from another vehicle. I checked fuses and relays to the extent that I could. When the ignition is turned to START I hear a samll click under the dash and can feel it when I touch the fuse box under the dash when I turn the ignition. No click at the starter solenoid at all.

Is there anything I’m missing before I start removing the right side of the vehicle to replace the starter…?

I pulled the first heat shield to where I could see the base of the starter and gave it a few taps with a steel bar and a hammer. Starter engaged. It had been drawn down to 9 volts from yesterday afternoon’s searching for a problem. I jetted to town and got a new battery this morning. Has started every time by once all day today. We’ll see how it does overnight. #3 son says he’ll come over Sat morning and help me (do the work) with changing it out. Until then I have the steel bar and ball pin under the seat. I had a T100 once and changed the starter on it twice. I just carried the bar with me after that. But it was easy to get to. My first Tundra was in 2008. I changed the oil once and have had it done since then. This starter thing is way beyond and oil change PITA…. I can’t complain too much though. I bought this Tundra new, replaced all the rotors once, pads twice, three sets of tires for 165K miles… fed her regular gas and kept the oil changed…

Thanks for the replies...
