I had a hitch on my 15 Corolla. Just make sure you don't exceed 200lbs on your tongue weight, and I think you will be fine. I can't speak for long term effects to the frame or suspension components, but I used mine for a 30 pound platform bike carrier with 70 pounds worth of bikes on it. It does change the handling a little bit, but not to a point that I would consider dangerous by any means.

Once I got my new car, the first thing I did within weeks of ownership was a hitch. They are invaluable if you go camping or biking. Keeps the gear off the roof to keep your MPG's up as well as easy access.
