Hi all,

Still having this issue and it's starting to drive me nuts. It's so inconvenient when we do a curbside pick at grocery because we have to get out of the car and manually push the damn hatch door down to close.

My original post was Sept 13, 2021 and to this day no one, even Toyota Dealership cannot figure out the root cause of this issue.

Here's the original post -> https://www.toyotanation.com/thread...toyota-highlander-limit-power-lift-gate.1705987/?post_id=14962400#post-14962400

My question to all the GENIUSES on here -> Is there a way to bypass the sensor so that it allow the hatch door to close? Even if it squashes obstacles. At this point I really don't care but get the dang hatch door to close.

Please help! Thanks

Hi, Have you tried this?

Park your vehicle and turn it off.
Make sure your Highlander is in park mode and turn off the engine.
Go to the back of the Highlander.
Head to the rear of your vehicle where the liftgate is located.
Press the liftgate button.
Locate the liftgate button under the license plate and press it to open the liftgate.
Let the liftgate open.
Allow the liftgate to fully open. If it was previously set to a different height, avoid forcing it open.
Press and hold the liftgate button.
Press and hold the same liftgate button used to close the liftgate for about 10 seconds.
You should hear four beeps, followed by a pause, and then two more beeps. This indicates that the reset was successful.
Close the liftgate and open it again.
Close the liftgate and then open it once more to ensure the reset has taken effect.
By following these steps, you should have successfully reset your Toyota Highlander’s liftgate.
