YES! There's a "rubbing/binding" sound when my hatch gets to the last part of its travel. Only lasts for 1-2 seconds and then it closes.
I brought this up with service over a year ago and they kept it overnight. Sure enough, it was eliminated but returned a few months later.
At the next service I mentioned it again and it was "fixed" but it started up again.
Our Venza is parked in an underground condo garage so it doesn't sit out in the "elements."
I'll mention it again at the next service.

Yes!! I've just started getting them as well! Loud squeaking/rubbing sound right as the hatch is about to finish closing. I thought about putting so WD-40 on where the sound is coming from, but want to know whether there are other alternatives. I haven't yet taken the time to locate exactly where the sound is coming from, but would love to know what toyota service has to say.

We've "settled in" to 44.8 mpg after ~11.5K miles. I'm long past my hot rod days, but if I drove a little "easier," I'm sure I could get it to 45.
That is better then what I was getting at that milage (10K). At 10K I was getting about 40-42. Now at 20K. I checked the oil level after a service change and found they were over filling the engine. Over fill was 3/8" above the fill mark. They took some out. Now 1/4" below fill mark. MPG has gone up since. I do not know if that could have been related to the MPG increase or not. An increase or not over fill is not a good thing. Why did I check the oil level after service? Previous ride was a CRV.

WD-40 Not really a lubricant. WD=Water Displacement. I would think, use more of a Lubricant.

I'm starting to get the noise. I looked at the supports but not sure how to approach it since they are encased in plastic.

If anyone knows how to remove the support and plastic, I'm sure some lithium grease will fix the problem

I will be getting the supports replaced this week. Under warranty. The shop says they, the supports, are a internal "screw drive". By that engineering lubicration of the support rods may not help at all. Nor be the cause of the noise. I will report here any new developments.

I got my 21 venza le noise fixed last year. The dealer had to replaced the whole thing. It works for about a year. Last month, the noise came back. What i did was recalibrate my lift gate by disable the power lift gate on the steering wheel. turn off cat and manually lift the lift gate all the way up and push it down to the closed position. Afterward, turn the car back on and turn the power lift gate to the on position. The noise is gone. I believed this happen because if the lift gate hit an obstruction while closing causing the the motors on either side to misalignment. So far this work for me. Let me know

2 Questions. Disable Lift Gate on steering wheel? I have a button on the lower left dash. Second what do you mean by "cat" ? I think you mean ignition, correct. Thanks, goes in today for new LG supports. A dilemma here, do I suggest you fix or allow them to change out the supports. Stay tuned.

Here are the steps. turn on the ignition. On the left side of the steering wheel, press arrow right or left to setting ( hold for 3 sec), then arrow down to setting again, go down to PBD ( i think), press ok, then turn it off. I am just going on top of my head. turn the ignition off.
go out to the back of the car, manually lift up the gate as far as it can go then pull/push it down until it is shut. go back inside the car and follow the above steps to turn the PBD back on.
now you can push the open to open the lift gate from lower left of dash board to see if the noise is gone.
let me know

lubing the two supports will not help. it is a closed system. the 2 supports cost over 500. that is what my dealer told me when it was fixed under warranty. i also had to wait for 7 weeks for that parts to come.
i have owned cars with power lift gate. this is the first time i have a problem with it. toyota is not what they were years ago
