Purchased a 2024 used RAV4 yesterday but unfortunately it came with only one fob. I would like another fob and probably have to go to a locksmith and get one made. I assume that is an expensive service. I would therefore like to

• buy a fob online and program it myself. Can anyone one provide any information on how to program it if is at all possible?
• I would have to go to a locksmith to get the mechanical key cut to match the existing key. Yes? Or is there another way to get the key made?

The fob I have has an FCC ID HYQ14FLA with 4 buttons - Open, Close, Back Door and Panic. I cannot find this part anywhere on the internet. The car is made in Canada. Any suggestions as to where I can get the exact fob or one that is compatible to the HYQ14FLA? Thanks again for help.

 

Did you purchase your car from a dealer?

 

Used car dealer Echopark. They will not give tge second fob. They recommended a locksmith who wants 400 bucks.

 

I was wondering. Dealers around will hold 2nd key fob until any checks clear and finance documentation is approved. The dealer should give you 400 bucks off!

 

Some people were having to wait for the second fab when they bought new cars. It seems like the dealer should owe you one, they are suppose to come with two

 

The seller -- regardless of who it is -- should give you some credit for not including the second FOB. As an alternative to buying a new one from a dealer, I've heard of people buying "universal" FOB's and having them programmed. I am sure there are "cheaper" alternatives to buying a new one from a dealer, but you run the risk of it not fully working/working properly. Good luck.
