what do u mean by 22re swap to 22r converting to efi, they should both be 22re's im kind of thrown off by that

 

You'd need to post some pictures so we can see the actual engine. It's hard to tell just from your description since valve covers and distributors can be switched between all 20R/22R/22RE-engines.

 

yea i know that the motor i purchased is a 22r it was originally carbed they just put a 22re valve cover on it for some reason. so i am basically just gonna throw my intake manifold and exhaust manifold on it and tap out a hole in the block for my knock sensor and it should be able to run like stock form what i understand. i am swapping all the components as well as replacing some seals and the water pump on Tuesday and then mounting my tranny up to it. so it should be fairly easy with minimal differences. but of course i am basing all this off of advice i have received from other people i have not done the work myself yet but i dont see any issue with the advice i have received. so if anyone has anything to add i would greatly appreciate it.

 

woah thats odd. most people convert their old 22REs to 22Rs.

 

i think the heads are different i had a friend who was doin some kind of swap and found out that, i cant remember exactly what was difference or the situation but if you havent you may wana research that just in case, i could be wrong to who knows

 

Not a problem if you know the difference between early and late-style blocks.

 

yea from 86 to 95 the blocks were the same except for a few casting differences on the outside of the block they have a few spots different like mounting points for the knock sensors if it was fuel injected or spots were the fuel filter mounts up on the left side of the block is different. but from 76 to like 85 the blocks were like a half inch shorter or longer or something and they were a little bit wider by like a half inch from what i hear. but other than that and of course the cam lob durations change a little bit every so often threw the years they is no real big differences.

 

^Cams are all the same, from the 20R to 22RE.

 

um actually the lobe duration for the intake to exhaust changes whether the motor is efi or carbed
