haha. awesome deal. how close were you from the SUV so that you don't have to break the wind? going at 90mph, i can't see myself getting too close.

 

under the right conditions i can squeeze that kind of mileage out of my 95 v6. latlely with gas prices so high i have been consistently getting 26+ with granny style driving.

I can't break 22/23 mpg with our 95 4cyl LE! Even with a lot of highway it doesnt get much higher! I dont understand. all the maintenance is done.....

driving style make a HUGE difference in mpg. especially in a v6.

 

Best I ever got was 31mpg on my '96 1MZ averageing 75mph for a 960 mile trip. 60 of those miles were hardcore city driving too, lol. I'm going to see what I can do to raise HP and get better gas mileage on it. I want 220HP and 37mpg.

Best to date since off the winter fuel is 23mpg with a heavy foot.
Average freeway speed in: 75mph (6AM), home 35mph doing bout 50m per day getting 23mpg on 95 V6 with 3.71:1 axel and P225 50R17's. Car has bout 160,000 miles and is in great shape, compression wise - cylinder variance less than 3% per cylinder, doesn't burn and doesn't leak.

It should do better!

i know exactly what you mean. when prices are down, i would accelerate a little fast, but now that the prices are to the roof, i've been watchin my foot, ALOT. i try to keep the rpm as low as i can and lifting my foot just enough so that the A/T will upshift. i guess these high gas prices are good for something, afterall. They keep you safe by forcing you to drive like your grandma.

I just did a 1500 mile road trip (missouri to idaho) and the best I could do was 27 mpg with my car completey loaded w/ a bike on top. The worst that I got was 18 mpg going against the wind on the colorado/kansas border:sosad: . By the way mine's only a 4 cylidnder so again congrats on the mileage.
Best to date 41 mpg.

 

heres some basic tips i heard,,,, check o2 sensors,,,,check tires as in alignment,pressure,inflated or not and most of all and a big contributor to mpg being low is your FOOT watch that beast...

that right there, got you. daym imagine all that wind resistance. that'll be like opening up 10 windows, if you had it. haha.

This is something that I have yet to understand. I get about 26-28mpg in town driving with my '02SE four banger, but when I had my '96 LE 6cyl. I got about the same results! What's up with that? My next Camry will definately have a 6 cyl. in it! I *LOVED* my 96: was the best and funnest car I drove with what I considered great gas mileage for a 6 cyl. car.

 

maybe because you were tryin to accelerate as fast with your I4 than with your V6. the I4 needs to work alot harder. This might use alot of your gas.

 

i've been getting 29 mpg out of my 2000 1mz and thats driving on a very hilly highway

 

word i tested my camry out to i put the stock motor in since the old v6 is chillin on a motor lift right now having compression issues but i know wats wrong so w.e but the stock v6 motor on premium gas i did 315 on a full tank but i topped it off which made it 15gallons i believe i was like wow this shit aint bad and the stock motor got like 210k on it so figure that shit still runs hard

 

almost 35 on the highway in my 91 v6 xle. i average 19 with my psycho driving habits.

 

Normally I have 29.4 (8 L per 100 km) on highway.
Camry 92 LE V6. (450,000 km). I guess if I set cruise control to 100 km/hr (60mile per hr) it will be a way better.
City - only driving is about 22.5 mpg (or 10.5 liters per 100km).

Boston to NY 90-100mph, no drafting...ppl are too slow, or cant keep up, lol
