I read an old thread were you talked about this, but it didn't go into it very much. So, i was just wondering what it would take to do that to, put a 3s-ge head on a 5s-fe block?

Dammm bro... your shit out of luck... The '94 block doesnt bolt right up with the 3s-g head. Toyota did some changes in 1994 to the 5s-fe block specifically to the water and oil passages on the blcok itself.
To do the head swap it would require you to port the passages out ... Basically taking a 3s-g head gasket and laying it on the 5s-fe and see whats the difference...

For example:

Top= 3s-gte Bottom= 5s-fe

top= 5s-fe bottom= 3s-gte

The easiest way would be to purchase a 1990 to 1993 block. This is more straight forward. This is what I did ... I used a 1992 5S-FE Camry block ... Its a direct bolt on affair from there... I just suggest getting a 9 bolt 3s-gte head over the 7bolt due to the nature of the 7bolts to crack turbo manifolds. And if you can get your hands on a 3rd Gen head...

is there a difference between the heads on the 3s-ge and 3s-gte? if i run across one in the junkyard i might see what i can do, but this is mostly just a hypothetical question.

92 5s-fe btw.

theres a ton of difference especially when going from 3s-ge and 3s-gte ... The ports are bigger on the 3s-ge than the 3s-gte... And Then you have different variations and years of different heads... So theres a ton... This isnt a bolt on affair you still need to run ignition system from a 3s-g... So this requires some soldiering and custom harness stuff... It isnt that easy

What exactly would be the performance advantages of bolting on a 3S-GE/3S-GTE head onto a 5S?
Um if you dont know the difference between a G-heads and a F-head then. Theres no use of me explaining. You need to do a thread search on ToyotaNation to find out...

what I meant by this statement is that its basically a bolt on affair , when it comes to bolting on the head to the block. You still have to contend with the wiring, ignition differences, map sensor, and ecu ...
