4-cyl. to v6 swap.

I want a bit more power out of my truck which got the old four banger and was thinking about the 3.0L v6, just how hard would it be to swap the engines? I'm more concerned about the electrical than anything.

Also, would there be any bigger better, easier swaps out there I could do?

downey offroad has quite a selection of motor/tranny swaps. i believe you can get a kit that has every thing you would need for the exception of the motor/tranny. www.downeyoff-road.com good luck im sure they will have what your looking for.

Swapping in a 3.0 is not a very smart choice. It would be just as hard as swapping in a 3.4L toyota, 4.3L GM, 5.0L ford...

Nothing is compatible from the 22re to 3vze. Either mod your 22re, or swap a 3.4L in or something

Well what would be one of the better engines to put in? Witout having to change the transfer case, i would consider changing the rear end though.

The V6 transfer case only bolts to the V6 transmission. The V6 transmission only bolts to V6's, so you'd have to change engine/tranny/t-case if you're set on a V6. Leave the stock rear axle alone, it's stronger than you think.

The V6 and L4 mounts are totally different which means cutting and fabricating new ones.

I swapped from the V6 to a 22R so I know what's involved.

Skip the 3.0 and go to the 3.4 or the 4.3.

If both are running stock, sure. If the V6 is broken beyond repair, and the 22R is not stock, and you're doing a sfa swap at the same time, then it isn't.

The newer toyota 3.4 5VZ-FE is far more reliable than the 3.0, it has more power and gets better gas mileage. Like a 3.0 swap, changing from a 22re requires reworking the mounts and replacing the transmission and transfer case (not sure about the differentials). You will need to swap all the sensors, wiring harness and computer, and there's an issue with oil pan clearance that requires either a body lift, or I think you can use a 3.0 pan (not sure).

By the time you've finished spending money to do the swap, you probably could have sold your current truck & bought a 2000 3.4 taco for less net $$.
