Hello gang, just a small problem here, I hope. My '86 pickup 22r starts just fine in warm weather. Quickly depress accelerator to floor twice, engage the starter, and she's running. BUT, if the weathers cold you can floor it 2 to 6 times, and it won't start. Oh, the engine turns over like crazy, but it takes a little "snort" of ether to get it running. Could the accelerator pump rubber be shrinking in cold weather??? Maybe all I need is a new accelerator pump, if I can buy it by itself. The complete carb kits are $$$. Any ideas. THANKING in advance for any and all help. This site is the greatest. Mack

I had the same problem with mine. Remove the electric hot-plate located on underside of intake manifold directly underneath throat of carb. Apply 12V to the connector pins and check to see if it heats up when energized.
After you fix that, get online and buy an engine block heater. I bought the rubber flexible one that glues onto the bottom of oil pan. Plug it in when weather reaches below 35 degrees and it will start right up. Good luck.
