Hi, I have a 99 Camry v4 2.2L, Automatic (5SFE). I installed a JVC NT3HDT and i want to connect the speed wire to car VSS speed wire, I did some research and i got more lost.

According to Camry wires, there are R/L (red/Blue), L (Blue) and P (Pink) coming out from the Vehicle Speed Sensor.

I am suppose to connect to Blue wire? is it in Harness E9 - 15 (pin 15)

or

Blue wire next to Pink and above Red (6 way connector behind glove box), what harness number?

Here is the reference Camry Wires PDF

Thanks

I don't have a '99 camry, but I have a '99 camry EWD, if you PM me your email address, I can send you a copy of it.

by looking at the colorful schematics on 5s-fe ECU I can see 2 things. not sure what you need, the Speed input or the tachometer input?

anyways, they should be:)
a) SPD, Violet-White color, marked A9 for plug E7, terminal 9
b) TACH, Black-Orange color, marked A7 for plug E7, terminal 7

sockets/plugs are numbered as they are on ECU on car, from bottom to top, E7, 8, 9 and 10 (setup with no immobilizer),

Hi fenixus, Thanks for the reply. I did a quick look at the ECM and to my surprise it only had 3 connectors (Harnesses). E4, E5 and E6.

So i took the blue wire next to the pink from the first connector on the right (6 horizontal connectors/plugs with a blue harness in the middle on the left side of the ECM box).

I will take the car for a ride this afternoon and check if i receive any popup screen about the sensor.

Thanks again

Bottom right harness with pink and blue wires sticking out. I connected to blue.

well... I am confused. I cannot see the ECM in that picture ... this is not an ECM, below there, just some junction connectors:

I think I can see a piece of your ECM in top right corner.

do you have automatic or manual transmission?

ECM is behind the glove box on camry and it looks like that (off car), this one below is from my SLE with auto trans and immobilizer (5 plugs):

looks like the older type of camry ECU with 2 row connectors, right those had 1 plug less (3 plugs for non-immobilizer ad 4 plugs with immobilizer setup).

later ones starting with 2000, like both of mine, have 3 rows in each connector - 4 plugs for non-immobilizer and 5 plugs with immobilizer setup.

yeah it's all good. looks like your setup has wide 3 plugs (2 rows each) and no immobilizer.

actually I think I may have a copy of your year and matching ECU model Factory Service Manual (same ECU plugs as in your pics). it can have all ECU pins described better than that electrical wiring diagram, I saw it somewhere but can't remember which section of manual that was in.
