I love my ae92 but want an ae86 because I want a rwd car and have had such a great time with my toyota :D

The ae92 has a wider body and sits lower than an ae86. You have the different motors offered. the 86 didn't come with a 4af / 4afe. There was also the small port 4age. The ae92 gts seats hold you better and look nicer. they actually share alot of parts, what can be shared from a rwd to fwd platform. The ae92 has cup holders >.<

not once you get used to it. I have seen people who drive rwd in the snow just as fast as some people drive fwd. In reality the fwd gives you a false sense of assurence. Feeling fairly controled in bad weather. But once you lose them most people don't know how to gain control back and unless you have amazing rear tires in the back you won't in the winter. In a rwd you KNOW how slippery everything is.
We are the generation that drives fwd cars... Our parents drove mostly rwd and they drove big sports cars that had 70% of the weight in the front lol Some even drove around with slicks in the winter :p. Our generation gets a rwd car with snow tires and we whine.. doesn't grip enough blah blah... lol

What is the paranoia with RWD? Every single pickup truck is RWD, and even the smallest one has a lot more torque than a lowly Corolla. Then there are the larger cars (Lincolns, Caddys, etc) plus the V8 sports cars. Do we see all these vehicles sliding, fishtailing, and losing control all over the place? 20 years ago most cars were RWD, and yes - people drove them in the winter and didn't die.
There is nothing dangerous with RWD. If you floor the gas pedal in the rain during a turn you deserve to crash with whatever car you're driving. If you drive normally you won't notice ANY difference at all.

I now someone who used to drive a 1984 Z28 with a 300 lb steel plate in the "trunk" during the winter. It was actually a counterweight from an elevator. It worked fine until I told them what would happen if they rearend someone and come to a sudden stop from 80 km/h. They removed it right away!

the coupe wouldn't be lower... Would be the same hieght with the same suspension. But People have told me the coupe frame is more ridged, but like anything else if you drive the hatch to begin with you won't notice. I like the hatch because of the tail lights and because you can cram more stuff in the back because of the added hieght.. I don't see why the coupe is lighter. But if anything if you plan to mod the car extra rear weight won't hurt you that much. You can take to much weight of a veichle which alot of people don't seem to realize...
Besides if you really wanted to you could a get strut tower bar to make it a little more ridged..

ae86 liftback or coupe, which one better? i know there same just different body and i think that the coupe would have better handling since lower and assume its lighter.

they r both about the same when it comes down to it... its just the one has a hatch glass and one has a trunk

the coupe is a little more stiffer and the hatch has more room...
they both handle the same

i got the hatch just coz i like hatch myself and i can carry more stuff in the back when i move..

yes i do winter drive the car wit all seasons on all 4.. the back end does like to swing out when u hit the gas or even let off the gas but its just a little kick.. the worst part is when u come to a stop then ur pretty much done.. lol i had 4 rims+tires in my hatch and i was still havin prob gettin her to start but im sure all RWD r the same..

it's just because most of us are used to fwd. I have drivin rwd trucks. My uncle's truck for instance is a 97 sonoma. Doesn't like to turn but I didn't have any problems. Same with my dad's truck. Those things have no weight in the rear.
I test drove an 86 in dry weather and if you hit the gas hard around a corner it will slide. But again thats how all rwd's are unless they have 20 hp :p. If you don't like that it does that get the ae92, in snow storms an 86 can't get away from the ae92 as spencer and I found out. then again I guess if a rwd car has a crazy driver with no fear the difference wouldn't matter

ya like i told u b4 i care for other ppl on the road and im not gonna tail ppl on the highway in a snow storm, thats just crazy one miss of a swing then every1 is gonna end up in a ditch.. i still dun get y u were tailin me like 5feel away from my back bumper in a storm like that :disappoin mayb u know wut ur doin in ur own car, but u have no idea how i drive and u were still 5feet away from my rear bumper in a snow storm not knowin that my back end can kick out anysec... ask one1 in real life thats "careless driving"
