I have a 2022 Rav4 XLE that I bought a few weeks ago. When I first got it, my Samsung S9 was a little hard to connect to the Amazon Alexa App but I found in this forum to unrestrict the battery settings in both the Toyota and Alexa Toyota app.

I then upgraded to a Samsung S21 and I cannot figure out how to make my car detect the app on my phone. I've changed the developer settings to run a different Bluetooth on phone, optimized and de-optomized battery, unloaded and loaded phone from car and apps from phone, gave all permissions to app, connected, reconnected, said many alternative words, Hail Mary's and about lit a car freshener on fire to pray to the car gods... but nothing has worked.

Can anyone PLEASE help me? I am a very patient person and worked so hard to get two nice things just to have my favorite feature not work :(

On the positive side, my son can't make me listen to Who Let the Dogs Out on repeat anymore but I'm actually starting to miss the Baha Men

You aren't the only one with the problem.

About a month ago, when many Android users got an operating system update, many were no longer able to connect with Alexa (or with other apps for those with 2019 or 2020 RAV4s).

Supposedly, Toyota knows about the problem and is looking for a solution. If you want to call Toyota support at 800-331-4331, you can add your name to the list of those having problems.

Here is a thread on the RAV4World forum that discusses the problems.

I've had my 2021 RAV4 Hybrid for about a year and a half. I'm sure that I've spent more time trying to get the Alexa app to work and keep it working than I have spent actually using the app. Frankly, if you need to use Alexa, you might as well just use the Alexa app on your phone. Only my OCD tendencies have caused me to keep trying to get it to work properly on the car.

I really appreciate your response!

I have tried to use it on my phone but I agree with your sentiments and still spent another hour going through it today.

I'll give them a call tomorrow!! Rav on my friend :)

Folks ..if someone finds the reason Alexa is not working please let me know...Customer service is the worst!!!!! After the updates in Feb 2022....Alexa is not working ... I have done everything..delete personal data..Uninstall ...reinstall.. Alexa lights up on the dashboard.. when I hit Alexa in Entunes on the dashboard...... Alexa app on my phone responds and opens.... and then suddenly.. Entunes flashes a message ... you need to download this app in order for it to work... Customer service is telling me that dealer needs to do a hard reset...we do that too...still isn't working...any feedback would be great..

This workaround only applies to using iPhone:
1. Make sure you didn’t start car.
2. On iPhone start Toyota app. (not Toyota+Alexa app!)
3. Inside Toyota app, touch down arrow symbol on top of screen.
4. Looking down to find App Suite square and open it.
5. Then you run Toyota+Alexa app from there.
6. Now your start your car and it will connect after a minute or so.
I think app has a bug but they never fixed it. This is the only way it’ll work on my rav4 prime. Good luck.
