Any DIY Audible confirmation with keyless entry?

I know there's are 2 cables in the driver's side kick panel that control the keyless lock/unlock. Anyone out there willing to come out with a DIY to tap into them to get a honk or a chirp when I lock/unlock my truck?

x2 i wanna have atleast a honk, when i lock the doors. i liked how it did that on my old frontier.:)

Well it doesnt sound to hard. Run a wire from the door lock wire that provides ground when the vechile is locked to a relay then to the horn relay wire.

The obvious problem with the horn on the doorlock is the horn honking everytime yyou hit the lock, even just the internal one. Otherwise the solution that integlikewhoa said has to be the simplest solution. That being, running a wire from the door lock relay trigger wire to the horn relay trigger wire. Of course I have no idea if it's that simple in reality withouth checking how this stuff is wired in the car. one might be + triggered and the other - triggered, so you would need to add an additional relay to have the ground pulse generate a 12v pulse when the doors are locked, or vise versa you know what i'm sayin?

Another way to do it would be to find the brain of the alarm and use a volt meter to find out what wires change voltage (probably 0v to 12v) when you hit the lock button on your key chain. run this wire to a bosch relay to trigger a 12v horn or buzzer.

If you want to trigger the stock horn you will need to find where the wire is that triggers the horns themselves.

Unless somebody knows the best way to honk the Tacoma's stock horn besides poking around under the stering wheel looking for a voltage change when the horn is honked, then it might be a lot easier to actually go buy a 12v buzzer at radio shack or something.

you know what i be talkin

This is one thing I will be looking into when I get a chance. I hate not having the horn honk when I lock my doors.

the cheaper alarm feature installed at the gulf shore port can
be programmed to chirp. Are you 100% sure that you can't
program your setup?

the new FJ's have the typical toyota beep, a very appropriate and discreet sound. I really donot like the lound horn honks, just a simple beep for me. I don't see any reason that it shouldn't be possible--Pb any input??

This might work

Has anyone thought of using a relay to honk the horn only when the door locks and signal lights are triggered at the same time? Is there a way to do that?
It would have to be wired in so that it didn't effect normal horn opperation.

Maybe you could use a resistor to lower the voltage coming from the relay so that the honk is not as loud.
