Thanks for that link, how have you faired so far with it? I'm no racer, but I'm by an airport and these guys patrol in flocks, I've had enough tickets, being that i'm only 19 1/2
I've liked it a lot.
I had one of the old Escorts that Valentine designed that I bought back in 1984 or so.
Used it up til a couple of years ago when I got the Valentine One.
As to sensitivity, I'd rather have it too sensitive than not enough.
I don't mind false alarms enough to turn the sensitivity down.
One thing I really love on the Valentine One is that it picks up radar from front and back, and shows whether it's to your front, back, right or left side..
It also shows a count of how many radar sources it's picking up, and the arrow pointing to the one you should worry about blinks.
Yes, they are expensive, but they are great radar detectors.
It's already paid for itself many times over already.
It uses standard modular phone cord for power, so you can replace it easily, or go to your local store and get a color matching one for your car (if that matters to you).
It also has the remote readout, which i use mostly at night.
I put it down a little lower so it's out of sight behind me.
Police will sometimes power on their radar on the Interstate at night, and look for lights coming on in people's cars.
But that said, radar detctors are only tools, and you need to gain some experience in getting a feeling for what they're telling you.
BUT
In my experience, a lot of what helps you avoid tickets is being always alert, and paying attention to what's going on all around you, and not just what's in front of you.
I remember a guy I used to work with who got too many speeding tickets and had to go to "defnsive driving school" told me.
The teacher was a police officer, and was often telling people in the class, that if they had paid attention to what was going on all around them, they wouldn't have gotten caught speeding by the officer who casually drove up behind them.

In other words, he was trying to get across that it's the driving and not paying attention that's the real danger, not just going over the speed limit in and of itself
