Anyone know how to remove a tail panel? ('96 Corolla)

Hey,

I've got myself a '96 Corolla and the previous driver busted out the tail panel (the plastic plate on the back that says TOYOTA COROLLA). I finally decided to get around to replacing it, but I'm having a hell of a time getting the busted one off. I have the Haynes manual for the car, but it doesn't say diddly squat about this particular piece.

I took off the trunk lid interior covering, and found 4 bolts (I know these are part of what's holding the plate in place). I took the nuts off the bolts but the plate still won't budge.

Anybody have any clues as to where to go from here?

Thanks in advance.

there are 6 clips that hold it on after the bolts come off, in the bottom corneres of the lid there are two round plastic covers(on each side), take them out if you look you will see the lower clip at the bottom corners, to see the uppers look through the left and right most opening inside behind the tail panel towards the edge you will see the uppers, the middle ones take the latch off and look up and down through the hole that the latch hid there are 2 here up and down.

to get them off work from one side to the other, while gently pulling up on the tail panel use a screwdriver to push the barbs on the clip in and through the hole, some times a pair of needle nose pliers work to but typically a flat tip screwdriver work fine
