For my ‘93 4Runner there is no OBDII connection. You have to go online and find which two ports to shunt on the small port on the right side of the wheelwell, with a small port, (T1 and T3, I think.) Check it out; the directions are everywhere online. After you make the shunt, go into truck, turn on the ignition, and there will be blinking lights. Record them very carefully, and you will find the codes, again, on the internet. I have made this work for me ‘93 V-6 4Runner 4x4. My problems are massive, but normally it’s just something like bad O2 sensor, or a problem with the EGR system, which is quite complex. Good luck and write with your progress. You’ll likely have some trouble, but with diligence, you will find your problem. I have to take a special solvent to clean ou the MAF sensor, and use a very important menu to clean the throttle body. Again, good luck sir. That‘s allI have for you presently.
If you have the Haynes book, with complete tear down, you will be glad, even though it’s $30. I wouldn’t live without it.
