Automatic retracting folding mirror research project

So I noted the other day that Lexus in the US has automatic retracting folding mirrors. (Not to be confused with the regular (manual) folding mirrors.) I specifially see in Europe that automatic folding mirrors are offered by Toyota. Specifically on the RAV4. Also that RAV4 blinker assemblies fit the US Gen4 Highlander. Are the mirrors the same???? I have seen where other Toyota models have been retro fitted with automatic folding mirrors by mixing and matching (used?) parts. So it seems it can be done. You know, will meets way sort of thing. Maybe Kluger parts?

There are two things I want for my Highlander. One is wireless CarPlay. The other are automatic folding mirrors. I figure the automatic folding mirrors are doable.

Toyotas and searching out / cross referencing parts is foreign to me. I KNOW there are experts. I seek such experts. Anybody?????

Also wiring, of course. I see a simple way may be to rewire the way the current mirror switch works, vice adding a different escutcheon or cutting the plastic to fit the square one they use for this application. Again, ideas are sought. Anybody????

What do you think????

FYI: There is a large mirror manufacturer in Taiwan that makes many (if not all) of the mirrors and kits we see around. Without testing, we are only guessing the supplied motors (or parts) are any different than what is used by OE. Could be supplied by the same factory that supplies OE as well. Or a second source. Simply can categorically say.

My guess has been that the RAV4 kit exists as it is a world car and our Highlanders / Krugers are really only sold in a few countries. But the current mirror is the same with various bases for various models.

Even if I had a damaged Gen 4 mirror I could see if the RAV4 kit should work....

Apparently the auto folding mirrors is also a standard feature for the Russian market. I can see France will be getting the gen 4 Highlander as their 2021 model as well as other European countries; I would surmise they all will come with this feature as they are more comment due to their narrower roads. When Taiwan and China get the gen 4 hopeful some enterprising auto supply company will come up with a retrofit kit as some had done with the Rav 4 and Sienna in the pass.

Yuup kind of what I was thinking in the back of my mind. Let them catch up.

In other applications (Lexus,) I saw, there is a separate control box similar to the kit, so maybe that is the way it is stock. Only a comparison of the wiring diagrams will prove that though.

In the mean time I am OK to wait for it.

Maybe, maybe, maybe at the model refresh will will get it as standard too.

When the Lexus version of the Gen 4 arrives, I may jump ship and let Ruby go to another family member......IF IF IF they offer enough goodies to "force" me...
